Dahua N3wbie , can’t figure out why IVS events won’t record

That camera, most cameras, should not be run in Auto.
That’s a whole nother 15 pages of explanation, but I haven’t run a single camera in auto since about 2015

Daytime set that to at least manual exposure custom range 0-4

Nighttime try 1/120 or custom range 0-10 at least. It’s going to depend on ambient light

Bitrate 8192 min.

FPS doesn’t really effect quality , 15-20 is fine

So are you sure by watching the IVS in the camera gui direct it’s not tripping flashing red lines? Take Synology out of the equation.

Make the changes above and the extended IVS lines (focus on tripwire for starts) and see how it does

I dont have a 180 cam, various reasons I'm not impressed with them, they do have their uses. One of our guys has them at the top of the house and they provide an awesome view of his neighborhood. But I wonder if any other 180 cam users have problems with IVS?

It is well documented in the 180 thread that the 180 camera can struggle with triggering, especially as it gets further away from the center of the image.

It makes a great overview camera, but I don't use it for alerts because it struggles with triggering consistently, especially at night.

What do you think about my Ivs rules? I want to track intruders that come where the red line is drawn. There is a small gate around the corner on the right. I use video detection and ivs rules for my four cameras. ( IPC-HDBW3849R1-ZAS-PV )

Many thanks for the quick help. I have now drawn it in like this. Is it correct to only use motion detection? I have SMD off and use the ivs rules with human and car.

I don’t use MD at all. You’ll get alerts for bugs, shadows, clouds blocking sun…

Use IVS only

But I would like to see who has walked past my house and possibly spied on me. Can you tell me why I have interruptions with two cameras in the 24/7 recording?

IVS will tell you who walked past your house without all the false alerts. It’s better, much better. I don’t think you understand that MD has no benefit over IVS for detecting humans and vehicles

No idea on your gaps, would need more info. How long are the gaps? Show a video clip leading up to and including the gap and after.

This only happens with the two cameras when I activate Motion Detection in the schedule. I think that's why it interrupts the recording. However, I will turn it off again. The recording is missing there completely.

So, i've been having some issues setting up IVS... and I can't tell if i'm just misusing it or what. I DO get detection, but it seems like it's very iffy on finding humans and when they cross a tripwire or perimeter ... and generally much worse than SMD is at picking up humans... am I using it wrong here , or is the range of possible human sizes in this perspective of a ceiling-porch mount just not going to work well for IVS? I have the sensitivity turned all the way up too, and i can walk around the area and sometimes it finds me and sometimes it doesn't. It' particularly shocking that I can sit around the porch and move back and forth and it takes what seems like forever to pick me up, if it does at all.

Here's my current setup... how do I fix this to be better ?

and i think he is wrong.
there is a difference using 20 lines and using 1 long line.
