Lorex LNB8005B-C and Dahua firmware (Solved with instructions)

I was not able to use the Lorex version but have been successful using the Dahua branded. All TFTP functions remain plus now I can use the web browser and Dahua Config Tool to chang firmware as well.

Version V2.800.0000018.0.R is where they are now but IIRC, I started with either 2.4x or 2.6x via TFTP and then used the GUI. I'll need to go back to my lab and find all the files I used. They are showing up as IPC-HFW4830E-S after the first update.

Thanks. I'm trying to use DH_IPC_HX5X3X-Rhea_MultiLang_NP_Stream3_V2.800.0000013.0.R.191202.bin.

My problem though is I don't know how to setup the network for this. The initial post has screenshot but they are no longer valid link so can't see it.

My laptop is running Windows 7.
My laptop IP is 192.168.1.5.
Router IP is 192.168.1.1
Subnet 255.255.255.0

I added alternate IP address of 192.168.254.254 with subnet of 255.255.0.0.

This config allows me to run TFTP server and listening on port 69.

When I turn on the camera it doesn't show anything in the console. I'm trying to install Wireshark to see if that shows anything. But my concern is that the way I have setup my network is not correct. I tried to setup static routing in ddwrt but that was just resulting in cannot bind to port 69 error.

Camera needs to be on 192.168.1.1 and server on 192.168.254.254
I do not think you can do it without a router. The camera will look to the default gateway and it will not know where to send the traffic.

You need two networks. The camera will set it's own IP address on the network 192.168.1.1/24. You set the server IP 192.168.254.254 on network 192.168.254.1/24. Your router will route between them.

For any future readers, I was able to call Lorex support and they emailed me a copy of the LOREX_IPC-HX5X3X-Rhea_Internal_NP_Stream3_V2.640.00LR000.20.R.180914.bin firmware for my LNB8005-C cameras. Upgrading the firmware through the Web interface worked, no TFTP stuff to deal with! Just to note, it takes a couple minutes to update, and the camera will restart but the browser won't reconnect right away, just give it an extra minute or two. Interestingly the new firmware shows the Device Type as LNB8111 now, but the ONVIF profile (16.12(V2.4.3.574996)) is now working and the camera was recognized by my 3rd party NVR (Unfi UCG Max in my case). Still toying with some settings but the video feed is showing up in Unifi Protect. Since I don't know why other Lorex files were taken down on this site, I won't post the firmware here just yet. But if Lorex support doesn't give you the file then DM me or reply here and I'll send a copy.

Unfortunately yes, it doesn't change how the video feed wants to be loaded via the Web interface, and Chrome wants the "NACL Web Plug-in" (which doesn't work on newer versions).

I've had a couple people ask for the firmware already so I'll just attach it here. If it seems to get taken down after the fact, DM me and we can figure something out.

If I have already updated the cameras via tftp to the duah firmware, can I revert to the original lorex firmware?

Should be possible to reflash IP cameras .. in general I'd be cautious as sometimes bricking does happen anytime you attempt to reflash.

Personally I would keep them running but isolated from my network if they are working well enough.

Ok

unfortunately, motion detection on the firmware does not work properly. However, I have one of the same cameras with the original latest Lorex software and motion detection works properly. That is why I want to go back to what it was, but I do not know if there is any special firmware or if tp from lorex via tftp will be enough

and the Lorex firmware upload failed. now the camera restarts and doesn't work. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Please specify which unit you flashed with which FW. Did you do a factory reset after the 'upgrade'? If not, try that to see if it fixes your 'config not-sticking' issue.

hopefully, there's a factory FW available for your unit in case it just doesn't work well on the Dahua FW and you need to revert. I generally don't muck around or recommend anyone else to without this option...

I have uploaded Dahua software to Lorex cameras via TFTP, but motion detection does not work well. Now I have uploaded the latest Lorex software to these cameras again, but unfortunately it is not possible. I do not know if I did something wrong. I am attaching the firmware files and command files. The current firmware version in the camera is:
DH_IPC-HX5X3X-Rhea_MultiLang_NP_Stream3_V2.800.0000018.0.R.210707.bin I also tried updating from the browser by logging in to the camera but unfortunately it is not possible.

run dr
run dk
run du
run dw
run dp
run dc
tftp 0x2000000 pd-x.squashfs.img; flwrite
tftp 0x2000000 .FLASHING_DONE_STOP_TFTP_NOW
sleep 5

I was asking if you remembered to turn off the TFTP server immediately after the update or it will result in it trying the update again.

From the message posted, it looks like the camera and firmware are incompatible. The current Dahua one you are on is the best I've tried. Not sure what problem you are having with motion detection but that is not very good in these cameras to begin with.

The Lorex software is correct because I have the original camera without any firmware changes and I updated it to the newer Lorex firmware without any problems. Regarding the update, after the TFTP process I turned it off but it still doesn't help because from what I can see it doesn't do anything anyway.

In the Lorex firmware when it detects movement the movement icon lights up red but in the Dahua firmware it doesn't have that and it probably doesn't work properly. Likewise when movement is detected in the Dahua firmware emails come every second even if there was no movement.
