New RCA HSDB2A 3MP Doorbell IP Camera

I do check in here from time to time since the Thread was a Very Active Thread at one time...

@pete_c still has this DB and was/is a big contributor to the 101 and this Thread.
Hi David, thanks very much for responding!
Looks like I am a bit late to the party. I bought EZVIZ DB1 on Amazon in 2021, but I never got around to installing it until earlier this year.
Regarding which manufacturers of this hardware are still active, the EZVIZ cloud (Free for "Last 3 Hours") and the EZVIZ NA support team still respond (by email no phone at support@ezviz.com) for EZVIZ DB1 product and support questions. Also, the EZVIZ app will still offer a firmware upgrade to EZVIZ V5.2.4 build 230404 if it detects you have something older. I attach a screenshot here where it did that.

One question. Do you have a URL to download a copy of firmware EZVIZ DB1 V5.2.4 build 230404.dav ? I can only install it via the app, as I do not have the actual file.

Personally and still working for me after xx years is:

1 - firmware 200321_na_us_version-zip
2 - Batch Configuration 3.0.2.3

I changed the password for admin and added a new user pete to the configuration.

Onvif and RTSP have worked great all of these years.

Every few months I would get a partial reset so went to using the Home Assistant RTSP proxy application and now do not get any partial resets.
When I did get a partial reset the doorbell would go to AP mode where I would just log in and reset my settings.
Hi pete_c! Thanks very much for all your contributions to this thread over the years! I did notice that you posted 3.0.2.3 of Batch Config previously here. As you can see from the attachment in my reply to David L I did have 200321_NA_US (Hikvision) loaded on my DB1 at one point. Furthermore, I have confirmed that it supports ONVIF as you state here. According to my notes, one cannot turn off the 'ding-dong' sound at the doorbell with this version (nor with211101!). I am not aware of any particular benefit of HikVision 5.2.4 build 211101 over Hikvision 200321 firmware. I simply assumed that 211101 was newer and selected it on that basis.

One question, (slightly off topic for this thread) are you aware of ANY model of EZVIZ doorbell camera (other than EZVIZ DB1) that will support ONVIF? (Either with EZVIZ firmware or firmware from another reseller).

Kind regards,

MfC

So the link in the 101 was a link that would allow you to download the latest firmware. The link never changed nor the filename, but the file was changed each time they had a new firmware available. Looks like they are not updating that link with the latest firmware since last modified is 2021.

You might approach EZVIZ support and see if they will send you the latest firmware file. Keep in mind EZVIZ is Hikvision, just their Residential product division...glad to see they still support their products...

UPDATE:

If you or anyone else have any other suggestions, I’m all ears.

Thanks again for your help!
Hi again peedubya.

I had some reflection overnight. Your DB1 repair might be quite simple. Have you checked continuity on the FUSE? (second photo in this post) If yes, and it is good then would you mind taking pictures of the marking codes on the chips identified in these two photos? Also please see my previous post for one additional photo request related to the solder connection on the SD Card socket.

Thank-you David L. Yes, I tried all the URLs in 101 (and I also composed my own URLs for other EZVIZ products.)
I came to the same conclusion, the URL is based on model number and the firmware it downloads changes over time. In both the case of HikVision and EZVIZ DB1 the URL does not produce the latest firmware revision.

Of interest, the HikVision URL produces the 200321 which pete_c has used reliably for several years.

The EZVIZ URL in your GET request appears to produce firmware with the same date as the latest HikVision one (I posted the .dav file yesterday) however I would wager that this EZVIV firmware will not support ONVIF. I compared the files, they are quite different.

The compile date for the latest obtainable DB1 firmware on the EZVIZ URL one appears to be Oct 11, 2021. The compile date for the latest HikVision firmware (not obtainable from EZVIZ) that I posted yesterday appears to be Nov 1, 2021.

I enclose screen captures comparing the file header and the compile dates.

On that note, let me just mention that I consider Beyond Compare and essential tool and have purchased it twice on behalf of two different corporations!

Thinking back ONVIF did not work until I enabled it with the batch configuration program. It was only an option on Batch Configuration 3.0.2.3. I did also use a Linux ONVIF editor which only partially worked.

Hi pete_c. Thank-you for advising that Batch Config 3.0.2.3 can manage ONVIF activation on EZVIZ DB1 w/HikVision 200321 firmware.
Thank-you also for posting the ONVIF tool github code repository. I may need to check both these out further!

When I installed HikVision 200321 for DB1 the ONVIF worked upon boot however that was likely due to the fact that I had previously installed HikVision 211101 on my DB1.

Regarding ONVIF, the biggest challenge I had was to know if it was even working, and then to know just what features ONVIF on the camera in question was capable of. I found one Windows solution a tool of dubious provenance. If you know of a more trustworthy Windows based tool please post to this thread (which I created for this new subject.) :)
