Review - Dahua SD49225XA-HNR 2MP 25x Starlight + IR PTZ AI Camera with Deep IVS & SMD Plus

2 years later and how does this camera work out? Still worth getting?

    Recommend Graphics Card for Virtualisation

As I'm bored and in lockdown I'm looking for a little project to entertain myself. I'm waiting for 6 cameras in the post so I need to be occupied until they arrive (swapping out some old Hikvision cameras with new Dahuas). My current setup is BI on an i5-6500/16GB ProDesk and it's funning...

    Pandemic threat? Anyone else concerned?

I'm going out on a limb here and make an assumption that you are from the UK? By your rationale, can all the colonies and countries that England invaded over the years, the millions murdered, seek retribution for our pain and suffering? Or was that just a bit of banter?

    Pandemic threat? Anyone else concerned?

We've seen this in Europe. Airlines slashing 90% of their flights, Norwegian Airlines temporarily laying off 7300 staff with the other airlines following suit, zero flights to Italy and other countries (and from I think), all but essential travel cancelled. Car manufacturers following close...

I'm not seeing 5231-ZE anymore ... is something newer recommended?

I don't expect it for a long time yet. The Dahua factory is still not back up to speed so if I'm not expecting until end of April

    Good Value PFA130-e (x4 for $38)

These arrived during the week so around 4 weeks shipping time from China to Europe. Not bad considering the impact of the virus.

I'm not seeing 5231-ZE anymore ... is something newer recommended?

I contacted the China Top Security vendor and they stated it's English/international from the Dahua factory and upgradable firmware. Curiosity is killing me :D so ordered one to take a look. I didn't see a comparable model on Andy's Aliexpress shop or would have ordered it there.

I'm not seeing 5231-ZE anymore ... is something newer recommended?

That's a fairly big conclusion you're jumping to...... https://www.dahuasecurity.com/products/All-Products/Network-Cameras/Lite-H.265-Series/2-MP/IPC-HDW2231T-AS-S2 Also you must remember that Andy changes the model numbers on his store. If I'm correct, replace Dahua "HFW" with Andy's "B"...

Best Dahua camera for night vision?

Concur with the above. For ID at 30ft I couldn't take the risk with a 6mm lens. Although anyone walking up my drive would walk straight towards the camera and increase the pixel count on the face, I didn't want to leave it to chance. In my case I'm going with two varifocal turret cameras aimed...

I'm not seeing 5231-ZE anymore ... is something newer recommended?

This is a fixed lens version of the 2231-Z with good night vision. You might need to check a few sellers on Ali to see if they have stock. Not tried it but do have a couple of the Z version (2.8mm - 13mm lens) on order. #Aliexpress US $63.12 13%OFF | Dahua IP Camera IPC-HDW2231TM-AS-S2 2MP...

    ID at 10m/30ft Using Turrets

Agreed but as it's the front of the house, I need turrets. I had the 2231 set to max zoom on IPVM calculator. To an extent the extra pixels on the 5442 6mm make up for the loss of zoom but the 2231 VF still wins. I think I'll get a couple of 2231 VF's.

    ID at 10m/30ft Using Turrets

Interesting. I didn't realise the IPVM calculator gave you PPF. The the very edge of my property: 6mm 5442: 72 PPF Max zoom 2231: 104 PPF Halfway up my drive: 6mm 5442: 168 PPF Max zoom 2231: 233 PPF

Agreed. I think the 6mm might just about be enough.

REVIEW: Budget 4MP Turret Comparison - IPC-T2431T-AS vs Chinese HDW4433C-A

Has anyone compared this to the fixed focal length IPC-HDW2231TM-AS-S2 (fixed version of this I think Review-OEM IPC-T2231T-ZS 2mp Varifocal Starlight Camera) Seems the same camera but in 2mp rather then 4mp. Gives comparable night vision to the 5231 series of Starlights (0.002 lux @ F1.6)

    Using Cut Video.....

I've always used the "Cut video..." option on my continuous recordings but find that I miss a second or so which is usually the time taken before BI detects motion. Video has been smooth. Last night I deselected that option and I have to say I'm impressed with the timing - the alert when viewed...
