My PC is not connected to the Internet. I am confused on why this matters. Are you saying that before exporting settings, the license should be deactivated? Or, deactivate AFTER export? The latter makes sense to me some degree... I'll check help file to see if it is any clearer there.

Interesting idea. This could work and probably turn off recording etc., ... currently away from the system, will try and see if it allows adding the Alert function without recording... it should in theory... thank you!

Granted, backing up or IOW, basically "mirroring" the BI data to remote NAS drive is something I will implement after reading your post as it makes total sense to me. However, I am still trying to understand how actual disk mirroring in the same system "increases the failure possibility".

+1 to above ^^ I can't speak for other forms of RAID. My setup uses Mirroring only and that's it. Say I am on 2 week vacation (and as things should occur normally) a drive fails. If cameras are spread out across disks, maybe the front porch keeps recording but the backyard camera has no...

Try going back to some basics such as factory resets, use another laptop/computer to access / test. Clear/delete history, cookies and autocomplete and temp files on computer. Try again after that. Isolate the problem. If you do find the camera's firmware is not good, there are some threads...

IMO, I don't think it is a bad choice. Plus, I read somewhere that the VF lens is a tad bit better. Also, it is nice to be able to zoom if you need to. What if you switch this camera to another location where the zoom is essential to establish proper FOV?

+1 on this. It's gotta be a coincidence. Yesterday, I had to reposition the camera to avoid the soffit glare. Like your situation, now the IR illuminates the grass and not the actual path. Next thought is to add some kind of base to increase the space between camera base and mounting area...

This is same issue I was dealing with and finally decided to reposition (turn the camera away and adjust angle/tilt as well) which helped a great deal but now I have a "curved" picture towards the edges of video output. Still, it is better than having IR reflected so strongly that output was...

The settings file in general, (possible that not all camera makes/models do the same) saves user settings and camera parameters. If the camera has UPNP turned on AND connected to Internet etc., then saving and restoring a backup won't do any good as that would restore same insecure conditions...

Can't you just restore the settings backup -if you have one... This should be done before a firmware upgrade. This is the reason why I always export a settings backup right after making "semi-permanent" changes or tweaks to existing setup.
