Hi,

Currently I'm running 3x 3MP cams at 15 fps in BlueIris on an i5-3330 with ~ 17% CPU usage.

I want to extend with 2 more cams, that will have to operate in low light conditions.
I'm doubting between 3 cams:
- DS-2CD2385FWD-I
- IPC-HDW4231EM-AS
- DS-2CD2335FWD-I

Probably the DS-2CD2385FWD-I is the worst of the 3 in low light conditions, but the day time pictures look so stunning :). Seems like I could work with the night time videos that I saw on youtube.

But can BlueIris cope with 8 MP H265+ ? Will it not trash my system ? Is there hardware accel ?

Dont fall for the scam nightime youtube videos...they use trickery to make the camera appear better at night, light place it next to reflective walls or cement, or even record before complete darkness...
h265+ is proprietary....blue iris supports h.265 but at a higher cpu cost...

I have a couple of the 8mp Hikvisions for testing. They will crush your system depending on your settings (frame rate, etc.)

I do not find the night time pictures that bad compared to the other 2042's I have, but some may say I have low standards.

Hi devastator

I really like the low light quality of the IPC-HDW5231 which people here recommended to me.
With some light I can have color during lower light conditions when other cameras are forced into B/W mode!

Worth picking one up imho.

well, think of it this way... 1 8mp camera is akin to putting 4 4mp cameras on your network, in terms of resolution.

Is that statement strictly true?

I still cannot fully understand this. If this thread is correct you are only 1.4 better off.

4Mp v 2Mp Question
Hi RBW,

For non-compressed resolution purposes 8MP = 4x 2MP

Not certain how much a difference H264 will make

Normally I just look at the particular camera's min and max bit rate spec to get an idea.
