Ok perfect, so static switch IPs and static camera IPs as well. Just finished running the wiring for the granny suite and need to finish mounting all the cameras on that side of the house.

IMHO, if you depend on a device to always being at the same IP address you originally set it up as, always set the IP addresses up as static. Otherwise, in the event of a power failure, adding another device later on and then rebooting, you may find one or more of your devices has had it's IP...

Looking for a knowledgeable paid consultant for setting up a Blue Iris system

I’m in the process of wiring everything up and I should have my granny suite all finished today as well. Mike is going to help me with the setup on BI and all the cameras but he wants me to have the networking done on the Edgeswitches and the Lenovo (BI server). I know there is a wiki on this...

Looks like you can get a card with 2 ports. Use Whatever works better in your situation with your wiring and component location.

My plan was to add a dual NIC card or two single NIC cards to the Lenovo so that I can use the NIC ports for the 2 switches then use the on board ethernet port to route traffic back to the internet. Not sure if this is the best way to do it or not, but definitely open to suggestions.

Do you have a 3rd ethernet connection on the lenovo? Your wiring schematic should have 1 camera switch plugged into the other camera switch, then only the 1 camera switch plugged into the 2nd NIC on the lenovo

Problem installing IPC-T54IR-ZE -- Default Port & IP?

Makes you wonder why they did this. Spent many hours traveling and wiring up many facilities with RS-232 and Async terminals. Along with properly configuring HP DTC's on the Unix box. Truely, the good old days. Adding ethernet cards to the HP Unix box was a game changer, allowing us to use...

    It can't possibly be the coupler . . . .

I’ll add this is also why every commercial, enterprise, and military installation pass through RJ45 connectors aren’t used. Using a dead end connectors provides a measure of protection for the copper wiring. I shoot some dielectric grease into the RJ45 connector before the wire / load bar is...

Does this mean my Ezviz DB1 is toast?

The manual / video isn’t very clear about this. As the the DB2 is advertised as a battery operated doorbell. But, has the connection points on the back to interconnect to an existing mechanical doorbell?!? A mechanical doorbell would / is connected to a 16~24 VAC transformer to operate...

    It can't possibly be the coupler . . . .

Thanks for the info, hope I'm still around in more than 5 years and it's still working OK! :lmao:

    It can't possibly be the coupler . . . .

One of my POE trail cameras went offline, two days ago. As I was thinking of all the possible points of failure, I mentally ruled out the "waterproof" coupler that I have in the middle of the long run, where I changed my mind on camera wiring 2 years ago. Well, after 3 hours of troubleshooting...

Review- EmpireTech IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 4mp Varifocal Turret

Are you using a known good factory ethernet cable? Or is it a cable you made? If you made it, did you terminate it using the 568B wiring standard?

    Poe nvr system

+1^^^. Cameras and DVR/NVR's at HF are all analog (use BNC connectors) and are crappy at best, non-functional at worst....save your money, add some to it and purchase a name-brand NVR and compatible cameras Continue to read here on IPCT to help determine your needs (number of cameras, focal...

Hikvision panocam and hikvision NVR. How to enable/detect external microphone

Thank you, would a hikvision camera automatically switch to the external microphone if wired properly? I wire it just like your photos, but it still insists to use the onboard crappy microphone. Is there some software setting you must change on the NVR side?

Hikvision panocam and hikvision NVR. How to enable/detect external microphone

For the benefit of others these are other methods of wiring an external microphone when 12 VDC vs POE Splitter is being used.

Hikvision panocam and hikvision NVR. How to enable/detect external microphone

On the camera the audio should be set to Line In vs Mic In. For best compatibility use G.711ulaw audio encoding. Wiring should be like this as seen in my photo based on the hardware on hand.

    Find the cat :)

Yep, their gopher cousins would chew the thermoplastic on the traffic signal wiring in the underground electrical pull boxes. In 31 years I pulled dozens of their electrocuted carcasses out of those boxes. From what I understand they like it because of the soy content. Red, orange and similar...

    Find the cat :)

It's a chipmunk. They like to chew on anything plastic including electrical wiring when they find a way to get to it. One year when we put some Christmas lights out early (the ones that look like a one inch ball in particular). We had a strand where a good number of the lights were chewed off...

Install camera in existing light housing?

Just wanted to chime in for the usual (Safety Nancy) feedback. If the motion sensor is 120 VAC ensure the Ethernet cable is well isolated from the high voltage line in that box if they are going to coexist! It’s illegal and not to code per NEC / CEC to have high & low voltage in the same box...

Possibility to use access terminal to disarm the NVR

haha Just what @tangent said, there is no solution like you would have want it. Wiring to alarm input of NVR could work. If your NVR supports such linkages, which i highly doubt. What you need it custom solution service which will handle everything i mentioned above. I have already done...

HSM2108 PowerSeries Neo 8 Hardwire Zone Expander-not working

One thing you could try: hook the keypad to short wires directly at the control panel, disconnect in-wall keypad wiring. I doubt it's your problem, but it's easy to eliminate a wiring issue causing problems on the bus at large. Some panels are more sensitive the resistance and capacitance of...

Hikvision panocam and hikvision NVR. How to enable/detect external microphone

I have a Hikvision DS-2CD2387G2P-LSU/SL ColorVu 8MP Panoramic Turret IP Camera and a DS-7604NXI-K1/AP NVR, but I cannot get them to work with or detect an external mic being plugged in. I have tried the hikvision branded external microphone just to avoid an questions of compatibility, but it...

HSM2108 PowerSeries Neo 8 Hardwire Zone Expander-not working

They may want consider skipping straight to the Qolsys IQ Pro, which is basically a merger of the Neo and IQ with a built in communicator and easier installation. Not sure how the panel cost compares exactly, but they should absolutely try an IQ Pro. https://qolsys.com/iq-pro/

Hikvision IP Camera POE Long Distance Connection Issue

Just some thoughts. I have a couple of cameras running reliably near the 100m limit, with a couple of differences from your installation: (1) The wiring is 23 awg solid copper cat6. Your description left open that yours could be CCA. (2) I'm using a business class POE switch, which could work...

Hikvision IP Camera POE Long Distance Connection Issue

Hi, I tested the cable plugging to our normal gigabit switch and made a speed test. The speed came as full our internet speed (80mb Download + 20 upload) As far as I remember the data speed was 100mbps, but it would be down to the laptop itself, it may or may not have a gigabit ethernet card...

Hikvision IP Camera POE Long Distance Connection Issue

I think that both those statements let out PoE voltage drop as the issue, assuming the 12v adaptors were local to the camera. It seems to be a data transmit problem, not a PoE problem. What was the full speed? What type of ports was the cable connected to on this test, eg 100BaseT or Gigabit...

POE switches (outdoor) to reduce cable runs

not to take this thread off topic, how exactly do you use the dielectric grease on the connectors? Do you literally apply the grease inside the connectors? or Outside to cover any "holes" that air/moisture might get through ? Got a picture of how it's apply?

POE switches (outdoor) to reduce cable runs

Even though you said "the deck rafters are storm proof", I'd at least consider using dielectric grease on the Ethernet connections (male RJ-45 on cable, female Rj-45 on switch) to help mitigate corrosion from moisture. We've seen recent damage from ants getting into a switch that was...
