(solved) Dahua SmartPSS advice welcome, cannot access camera snapshots

Update: I think I've found the solution, which is to launch the software one time using Run As Administrator so it can get something configured. We have a few softwares at work that behave that way; they need one run as an Admin, or else a permissions adjustment on certain configuration files...

Review - Dahua SD49225XA-HNR 2MP 25x Starlight + IR PTZ AI Camera with Deep IVS & SMD Plus

Thanks @Wildcat_1. Andy had me try the firmware he gave to you, and it's not helping my PTZ. It will arbitrarily scramble its Pan heading, so when it goes to Preset 1 or any other preset, it'll pan to whatever Pan value that preset had, but now that could be any random direction. If you saw...

(solved) Dahua SmartPSS advice welcome, cannot access camera snapshots

Update: post #2 contains the apparent solution: launch the software using Run As Administrator. My landlord is interested in adding cameras to some of his other locations. He'd like to be able to view snapshots from the cameras. I've picked up an inexpensive 2MP Starlight PTZ from Andy as a...

Review - Dahua SD49225XA-HNR 2MP 25x Starlight + IR PTZ AI Camera with Deep IVS & SMD Plus

Agreed. @EMPIRETECANDY is Dahua interested in our bug? My camera is getting worse. Here is video of it doing a PTZ Restart. When it finishes the PTZ restart, it tries to reach Preset 1 and you can see it turns left a few degrees, while the PTZ Pan value jumps from 0 to 151 as if it had...

Review - Dahua SD49225XA-HNR 2MP 25x Starlight + IR PTZ AI Camera with Deep IVS & SMD Plus

My SD49225XA-HNR keeps losing track of its actual Pan value. Its normal home view is at Pan 236, approximately south. Sometimes after tracking around the parking lot, it will attempt to return to Pan 236, and it thinks it's arrived at 236, but instead of pointing south it's now aimed west...

Are camera's useful anymore for theft?

In my area, I have a longer-range high-resolution camera that takes snapshots of everyone who walks by on the sidewalk. I flip through them daily to stay familiar with who's in the area, who they hang out with, and take note of certain things: lowrider pants, tats, etc. My system archives the...

    Critique my night shots

I have the same 8MP Hik (six of them now) and posted some notes here with settings I've been using: https://ipcamtalk.com/threads/ipc-t2385g-i-hikvision-8mp-fixed-turret-night-videos-added.42982/ In your initial colour photos I think WDR is eating a bunch of your potential detail, as shown by...

    Dell Form Factor Sizes

I'm scrounging for a valid link to the correct tray. It looks visually similar to the one that fits OptiPlex 3010s and larger 390s but they don't interchange. There is an Amazon link with the correct picture here, but the one-star review says they got the tray you already have, not the one...

    Dell Form Factor Sizes

You'll just need a different version of the blue plastic tray which takes 3.5" drives. It won't look elegant, but there's room between the 3.5" drive and the chassis cover for your 2.5" SSD to simply sit between them, either loose or you can stick it down with some double-sided tape, etc...

@Wildcat_1 tell me if you'd rather I make a separate thread with my own progress :) Thanks for your help with the Auto-Track magics. Here is a new sample from mine. (you can skip forward through the first 15 seconds, which gets YouTube past its pixelated stage) Here I'm telling my homies...

Review - Dahua SD49225XA-HNR 2MP 25x Starlight + IR PTZ AI Camera with Deep IVS & SMD Plus

Right now, the PTZ looks toward the street where intruders would approach from, but the dumpster is on its 3 o'clock, and the landlord's shed is on its 6 o'clock. They're targets for dumpster divers and prowlers. So I lean toward using spotter cams to boss the PTZ around. I might have to...

Review - Dahua SD49225XA-HNR 2MP 25x Starlight + IR PTZ AI Camera with Deep IVS & SMD Plus

Update, I might need to back down on my Tracking Target Size, which apparently is how tightly the camera zooms onto a recognized target. Too much zoom and the target may be able to walk out of the scene, is my hypothesis. Trying this now:

Review - Dahua SD49225XA-HNR 2MP 25x Starlight + IR PTZ AI Camera with Deep IVS & SMD Plus

Thanks @Wildcat_1 I am trying those out. Here's an example video where Preset 1 has a rule for cars entering/exiting a box, and an Intrusion rule for human objects. Do you think my Target Filter sizes are somewhere in the ballpark for Rule 1, the human-detection rule? As you can see, the PTZ...

Review - Dahua SD49225XA-HNR 2MP 25x Starlight + IR PTZ AI Camera with Deep IVS & SMD Plus

I got mine installed and I'm doing some preliminary experimentation on the auto-tracking and how to direct the PTZ camera to areas the other cams trigger on. Here's a quick video clip where the camera that sees the shed calls the PTZ around to Preset 3 once I walk toward the shed from the...

Review - Dahua SD49225XA-HNR 2MP 25x Starlight + IR PTZ AI Camera with Deep IVS & SMD Plus

My SD49225XA-HNR arrived and is undergoing some trials in my living room. I'll hope to get it installed this weekend for parking-lot duty, and experiment with having Blue Iris use triggers from other cams to bring the PTZ to bear on choke points like the bottom of the staircases, or the shed...

Review - Dahua SD49225XA-HNR 2MP 25x Starlight + IR PTZ AI Camera with Deep IVS & SMD Plus

Looks like a prowler's worst nightmare :headbang: One interesting aspect of a PTZ is that it changes the classic motion-blur situation that affects a still camera. Target's moving, but if the tracking is smooth, their overall movement in the scene will be low. I ordered one of these from...

    Time Lapse Recording ? BI5

    2.8-12mm vari-focal lens

For a Dahua varifocal camera, the short answer is it should stay at the zoom you've chosen. You can have it hold different zooms for Day and Night modes if you like. Try out this circle calculator and put in 90 as your radius and goof around with the angle until you get the horizontal field of...

    2.8-12mm vari-focal lens

If your system has interoperability with non-Hikvision cameras, try the IPVM Camera Calculator and throw in the IPC-HFW5241E-Z12E from their database. This is a Dahua bullet camera with an extra-long-range lens and decent low-light sensitivity. @EMPIRETECANDY has them listed here if it looks...

Entering either BI 4 or BI 5 license raises CPU utilization

Thanks. The first thing I would do is dial down the framerate to 15fps on the cams that are shooting for 20fps or higher. While you're in there, also set them to one keyframe per second, since BI's documentation suggests there may be an optimal keyframe rate to help with CPU load.
