Viewing Camera outside of my network without portforwarding.

FWIW, I started researching which router to purchase to replace my Netgear router which lacked OpenVPN capability. Then I discovered a router firmware upgrade also added OpenVPN capability to the router I had. Been using that for about 2 years now.

ReoLink WiFi Doorbell IP Address Changes

Interesting. Likely has something to do with BI’s use of MAC addresses, that has been mentioned elsewhere here, since communications from the doorbell to the extender would be via MAC address.

    Missing LPR Captures

I run 15 fps on my other cams, but found that 20 fps on my LPR helped by giving me an extra couple frames.

ReoLink WiFi Doorbell IP Address Changes

Any updates on this? You say you set a static Ip in the doorbell. Is it possible the doorbell reverted back to a DHCP assignment? Have you tried reserving the IP you want for the doorbell’s MAC address in your router (which I’m assuming is also your DHCP server)?

Looking for advice of Camera and Software

@agarwaldvk , a few words of “advice” from someone who was a camera/Blue Iris newbie 2 years ago: IMO, you are on the right track with the equipment you have chosen and the great advice you have been given here. Now you need to view this as the beginning of a continuing journey towards the best...

    CPU suggestion?

@wittaj always gives great advice. Here’s my perspective: Don’t feel like you need to upgrade your computer until you prove to yourself that you do. I’m running 11 cameras now on a 6th gen i7, but previously on a 2nd gen. I’m also running CodeProject AI on it, on about 4 cameras. On my older...

Review- New Design Tendelux 10 Watt IR illuminator.

Just an advisory : the forum software seems to be inserting a link to an IR Illuminator that is not the Speco IR60 that @Parley is getting good results from.

Review- New Design Tendelux 10 Watt IR illuminator.

@Parley, the biggest challenge I’m dealing with is rear plates with bulbs that causes extreme bright and dark areas on the plate, like the example shown. Are you finding that the IR illuminator can help overcome this?

    Zerotier/Tailscale; Viable Options?

People here have been saying good things about Zerotier as a vpn substitute for what you want to do. You might look into that.

    Zerotier/Tailscale; Viable Options?

Can’t help you with the EdgeRouter setup, but I found setting up OpenVPN on my Netgear router to be fairly straightforward. The only problem I had was that it produced I think 2 or 3 files to be installed on my iPhone, and the iPhone only wanted one. I was able to use a simple text editor to...

Blue Iris isn't recording anything after months of flawless performance.

You say it’s been running fine for almost a year with no major issues, but you are running BI version 5.7.7.18, which is a fairly recent update. Do you have automatic updates turned on? You might try rolling back to an earlier, known stable version.

    Funny / Satire

Company I retired from after 36 years provided very large industrial equipment, so large it had to be constructed on site. The construction department was officially called the erection department. One of the guys in that department was named Richard Rising. Although I never spoke to him...

Nighttime Front vs. Rear Plates- Should I expect better?

You've got great captures, Jeremy. I'm learning a lot, one of which is the need for patience or tenacity. I'm not looking to use AI to capture plate numbers; I just want to be able to pull one one up if needed. I'm not even sure how much I'd trust AI to OCR the plate numbers. (As a side note...

Dahua Iris Setting Numeric Value-Is it similar to still cameras?

I’ve searched all over this forum and the net, and haven’t found an answer to my question. Keep in mind, though, that I’m a husband with the ability to look right at the spot where my wife told me she put something and not see it. So, apologies if I should have been able to find a direct answer...

Nighttime Front vs. Rear Plates- Should I expect better?

Thanks, but that’s not happening. Straight road, state highway, smooth pavement, so high speeds. I sit on our front porch and am disgusted by the number of drivers that are looking at a phone instead of the road as they go by. Includes tractor-trailers! Too risky for people and our vehicles. I...

Nighttime Front vs. Rear Plates- Should I expect better?

After reviewing a bunch of images from overnight, I'm on the right track. Still got a ways to go to be happy. It was wet last night, so the rear plate images, which are the ones I'm most concerned about improving, were sometimes I think obscured by spray from the vehicle's rear tires. And, as...

Nighttime Front vs. Rear Plates- Should I expect better?

Thanks, Jeremy. I just finished my tweaks for this evening, and think I’ve made significant progress. Nothing worth posting yet, ‘cuz traffic has gotten pretty light, and so I don’t have a good sample size. But I found I could get away with slowing my shutter to 1/1000 and get a brighter image...

Nighttime Front vs. Rear Plates- Should I expect better?

Thanks, bigredfish. I see that you’re able to use 1/1000 shutter speed. I‘m planning to try that to see if I can get away with it, but it seems like maybe your location has lower vehicle speeds. We’re on a straight stretch of state highway with good pavement, so…. I think my distance is closer...

Nighttime Front vs. Rear Plates- Should I expect better?

Thanks, wittaj. Dropping the sharpness that low will be my next tweek, along with inching the contrast up some more. My sharpness is currently around 30, and contrast high 70’s. I’ve actually become disciplined enough that I’m keeping a log of my changes along with photos like I posted so I can...

Nighttime Front vs. Rear Plates- Should I expect better?

After several incidents in our neighborhood, I decided it’d be better to capture plates of all vehicles passing, rather than those just entering my driveways. The below pic is essentially where I’m at, although the front plates currently look a bit cleaner after I reduced the sharpness. Camera...

    codeproject ai and blue iris

It looks like you’re new here. Welcome! Read through the existing threads on the subject on this forum. People here are very helpful, but you’ll need to provide a bunch more information before anyone can help. Are you using custom models? What do your settings screens for AI look like?

    UTV

It turns out I used the wrong Gator model designations. Ours is the HPX, which they still show under “work” gators on the Deere website. The model with the independent rear suspension is the XUV, not UTV, though I guess generically, all are UTVs. Smilingreen, I think you mentioned your diesel...

    UTV

I’m pretty sure they still make the HPX. It seemed like they were going to phase out the HPX when we bought ours, because they had just introduced the UTV models like yours. Difference between the HPX and the UTV’s was, like you said, independent vs. solid rear axle. (For the benefit of those...

    UTV

Our gas engine HPX Gator. Actually, it’s my wife’s Gator, purchased back in 2009 for the hydraulic dump bed for her gardening/landscape obsession. She drives it all over our lawns, and let’s me plow snow with it in the wintertime, which I’ve done ever since we bought it.

Im lost and already spent thousands on junk

Many of us here have been through your experience. Since you’re willing to go to the effort of running cable, you’re on the right track. Favored cameras are Dahua (or Loryta brand on Amazon) 5422 series in turret or bullet formats. Then connect them to a PC running Blue Iris software or an NVR...

Cameras randomly dropping out on B.I.?

What are you using for Ip address ranges on your dual setup? It sounds like Ip address conflicts maybe. Happened to me when my son moved in and plugged his router/WiFi into my network.

How do I get the sheep off my lawn? (humor and actual question)

It sounds like you want to detect squirrels, but the AI is detecting (at least one of them) as a sheep, and it’s also detecting a rock as a sheep. I had a similar issue where I want to detect rabbits, and the AI didn’t. My tests showed it saw our rabbits in the grass as birds. So I added “bird”...

The Nest cameras have a green led on them indicating they are connected. IIRC , it’s blue when powered but not connected, green when connected, and flashing green when being viewed. In the early days, the owner could disable it, but then they removed that option. So I removed the cameras. (Not...
