    Dahua 8mp NON-Starlight HDW5830R-Z review

When you say increasing shutter speed manually, do you mean manual range under shutter priority or something else? I have been messing with the shutter priority range and based on other posts have been trying to keep it at between 0 and 8 or less, but still am getting poor results. Next step is...

    Dahua 8mp NON-Starlight HDW5830R-Z review

Thanks. I'm going to go ahead and order the 8MP and see how it performs. I'll take some before and after footage. I can't really angle this camera any more to the right if I want to also capture who is coming up to my front door, and as a practical matter, I cannot put another camera in this...

    Dahua 8mp NON-Starlight HDW5830R-Z review

Thanks Thanks very much. Unfortunately that is not really an option. I already have three cameras on the front of a 13-foot wide row house. I really just need to get the best picture from this location that I can get. Whether by changing the settings or pointing it in a different direction or...

    Dahua 8mp NON-Starlight HDW5830R-Z review

This is an awesome review. Thanks so much. Hopefully this isn't a dumb question, but I'm still in the process of learning about these cameras. I have a starlight HDW5231-R-Z I'm considering replacing with one of these cameras. The ambient lighting at night is pretty good (in auto settings the...

    Dahua 8mp NON-Starlight HDW5830R-Z review

Thanks very much. Given that I have starlights, and there is quite a bit of light from my front porch light as well as street lights, what would you recommend to maximize chances of getting clear faces? Put differently, assuming the camera goes to color at high sensitivity and B&W at low...

Persons of interest in local shooting

It was on auto when these videos were taken. I have since changed the setting to "shutter priority" and have been messing around with the range, trying to keep it from 0 to less than 8.

This is helpful, thanks! I've had all backlight settings off, and have messed around with 3DNR a little bit, but I could do more.

    Dahua 8mp NON-Starlight HDW5830R-Z review

Thanks very much. Do you happen to know the advantages/disadvantages of "high sensitivity" vs. "low sensitivity"? I have looked and can't seem to find any explanation.

    Dahua 8mp NON-Starlight HDW5830R-Z review

What is the benefit of forcing color? I have a Dahua HFW5231-Z5, and based on the lighting conditions it will go B&W when the Day & Night sensitivity is set to low and color when sensitivity is set to high. I have no idea what the import of high or low sensitivity is, so I'm trying to figure out...

Persons of interest in local shooting

My footage made it into an MPD police video looking for persons of interest in a shooting. The first camera (B&W) is a Dahua HFW5231-Z5. The second one (color) is a Dahua HDW5231-R-Z. The video looks ok but the stills are terrible (even when apparently enhanced). I'm still working on dialing...

    Can't export/convert last ~20 seconds of file?

You may want to post this question as a new thread with a more interesting title. I don't think my title has or is likely to capture anyone's attention.

Enhancing clarity of face on a still shot?

Putting aside the question of camera settings, I'm curious if anyone has messed around with attempting to make a face in a captured image more clear / less blurry? I know that all the stuff on CSI is BS and I'm not asking about that, but there must be DSP algorithms that could improve the...

    Can't export/convert last ~20 seconds of file?

I have a video I need to hand over to police. Unfortunately the part I need spans two .bvr files. I am able to export/convert to .mp4 the last part of the video (which is on the beginning portion of the second .bvr file) just fine. I am not, however, able to get the last 20 seconds of the first...

Blue Iris mobile app not showing triggers for one camera

Thanks again. For some reason I thought that just meant putting images in the right hand side of the desktop app.

Blue Iris mobile app not showing triggers for one camera

Well, once again you have solved the problem! Not using groups, but your reference to the record tab made me inspect that closely vis-a-vis the record tabs for the other cameras. Turns out that the camera in question did not have the "trigger alert list images" checked. Now that I checked it...

Blue Iris mobile app not showing triggers for one camera

Picture is attached. In case it matters, the camera for which triggers are not showing is a Lorex 8MP camera. The two that are showing alerts are Dahuas, but I've also had a Amcrest camera attached that did show triggers in the app. All the cameras are generally set up the same, and I can...

When I repaired the database it fixed the issue right away. I should have taken a screenshot before to show how wonky it looked, but now it looks normal. Thanks again @fenderman !!!

No, I haven't. Will try that and post the screenshot tonight. Thanks!

strange error after changing recording locations

Pardon the dumb question, but how can I be overallocated? As shown above, my allocations are way under the sizes of the drives, and the only data on these drives is BlueIris data.

strange error after changing recording locations

I changed the locations of where New and Stored files were kept last night, and now am seeing the following notification that looks like an error message: I assume these relate to drives R: (where New files are kept) and S: (where Stored files are kept). As seen below, however, there don't...

New system or keep what I have?

I'm not an expert at Blue Iris or what happens to frame rates when your CPU is at 100, but I'm going to hypothesize that either (i) you don't lose any frames or (ii) you lose an insignificant number of frames during the brief period of time that your computer hits 100. But I think that is what...

New system or keep what I have?

Voltage and heat are the primary factors contributing to the life of a cpu, as I understand it, with higher clock cycles tending to increase heat. As long as you are adequately cooled, the cpu should be fine. Processors in server farms work a lot harder than yours is working.

New system or keep what I have?

Putting aside the question whether any additional optimization could be done, given that the system is running fine it seems like the question is whether there is anything inherently wrong with your computer constantly running at 65-75%. I would think the answer is no, except that it will use...

Bit rate on BI far less than camera settings?

Thanks, fenderman. Really appreciate your help and guidance (I have read a ton of your prior posts). I'm a newb as my profile makes clear. One question about your guidance -- I had jacked up the bitrate and fps because I was getting blurry images on any motion (including people walking), and...

Bit rate on BI far less than camera settings?

I did some additional searching and think I answered my own question. BI is showing kiloBYTES/s while the cameras are showing kilobits/s. Very confusing.
