    Storing clip/vids on separate HD?

Perfect... thanks! That was my plan and how I interpreted fenderman but wasn't sure.

    Trouble connecting 'some' Reolink cameras

Thanks J. I have a Dahua Starlight 2Mp on order. Will do a side by side. Assuming I see a big difference at night, I will likely add another Starlight to cover my entrance areas and stick with the cheapo Reolink for the less critical and less active areas.

    Storing clip/vids on separate HD?

I just purchased a 2Tb WD purple drive as I understand they are more suited for the demands of video recording. I plan to install it in my PC and direct the recordings to this drive instead of on the existing drive that the OS and BI are installed on. My PC is pretty much dedicated to BI but...

    Trouble connecting 'some' Reolink cameras

Just an update... I did get the Reolink cameras working. Turned out to be a bonehead error on my part (trying to enter a password when it should have been blank). The fixed lens cameras are fine. The 4x optical zoom autofocus is a bit off and no way to manually correct it. It focuses and then...

    Trouble connecting 'some' Reolink cameras

Okay, bullets are bad because of spiderwebs? I like bullets because of the side wall mounting and ease of adjusting. 5Mp is bad in low light compared to 2Mp? Is it simply 1/3 vs. 1/2.8? What about Dahua N44BB33 4Mp bullets? Dahua TechnologyPro Series N44BB33 4MP Outdoor Network Bullet Camera...

I bought them from Newegg.com. I will try to return the unopened ones. What brand/model do you recommend for 5mp bullets?

No WiFi. Bought both the cheap 5mp and the 4x zoom 5mp.

    Trouble connecting 'some' Reolink cameras

I have successfully installed a couple Reolink cameras but some are giving me trouble. Actually, the cameras are identical. The only difference I see when I look at my Linksys network map is this: Camera 1 works , Camera 2 doesn't. Why is there another LAN for Camera 2? I am doing the exact...

Can I run Blue Iris directly from QNAP?

I'm not really interested in a Mic... maybe one but doubt it would get much use, but definitely am interested in hi def/low light and durability in outdoor (undercover).

Can I run Blue Iris directly from QNAP?

I am going to add some additional cameras and I could return a couple of the Reolink bullets. Thanks for the recommendation on the Starlight turret... any others?

Can I run Blue Iris directly from QNAP?

Yeah but they are cheap! Maybe I will upgrade to better ones at some point. Trying not to dump too much into this system. The desktop was not budgeted!

Can I run Blue Iris directly from QNAP?

Thanks fenderman... I am figuring 8 cams. Bought Reolink. The first two I 'bench' tested seem to work pretty good and at night. One is a standard bullet and the other 4X zoom. Much improved over my old 1080p Lorex cams. I figured I could always dial down the resolution. A bit of thread...

Can I run Blue Iris directly from QNAP?

Appreciating the comments here... just an update on my situation. I have a QNAP TS-451. I currently use it for my music storage (extensive) and now backing up my photos from other external drives that I am getting nervous about. My QNAP has 4 3Tb Western Digital Red drives and I think I am...

Can I run Blue Iris directly from QNAP?

Thanks for the replies... was really hoping there was a solution to utilize my existing NAS and not need another piece of hardware. I may have to explore the QNAP surveillance software a little more but first glance it doesn't seem as elegant as BI and more than four cameras requires buying...

Can I run Blue Iris directly from QNAP?

I am moving from an old Lorex system to POE cameras and hoping to connect to my QNAP NAS system. I would like to use Blue Iris vs. QNAP's software. I do not currently have a Windows PC, but I do run Windows 10 virtually (parallel) on my MacBook Pro. Lot's of power and RAM but it seems I can't...

Referred here from a Tractor forum!

Hi everyone, Living in the great PNW... had a Lorex system and now moving to a POE camera setup with lots more freedom and future proofing using a NAS. Been doing the research but decided I should join and participate more. Looking forward to learning more about how to get the best out of my...
