    Blue Iris Video Missing

Could a moderator possibly reach out to that member to make certain he's aware that his video vanished?

Bump! Do none of the site moderators have backup copies of the Blue Iris video tutorials?

Weird IP Confusion With Blue Iris 5?

I assigned a static IP to my surveillance computer and most of the computers on my network. They all have normal private IP addresses. I wasn't able to manually override the public IP address that was present in "local, internal (LAN) access". But I was able to choose the correct private IP...

    Blue Iris Video Missing

Does anyone know how to re-post the "Clips and Archiving Video Part 1" that's been missing for quite a while? I'd love to watch it again.

Weird IP Confusion With Blue Iris 5?

When I did that it returned the WAN IP for my router, as listed in BI5 under "Remote, external (WAN/Internet) access". The public IPs in the local section are different. And I'm not using any VPN. Any ideas besides someone likes watching my front porch in Iran?

Weird IP Confusion With Blue Iris 5?

No I'm not. I know vpns can be very good, but I haven't tried that route yet.

Weird IP Confusion With Blue Iris 5?

I am a relatively surveillance noob and learning to use Blue Iris 5. I have a dedicated local computer running BI5. So far I have only added one wireless video doorbell to Blue Iris. It is a Nelly's Security DB-1, but it's made by Hikvision. Before adding the doorbell to BI5, I was already...

    Blue Iris Video Tutorials

The video called "Clips & Archiving Part 1" has disappeared. Is it still available to watch? Also, I noticed in the WIKI section that some of the titles above the video clips are out of sync. In other words, the video is about something different than the above title.

Blue Iris 4 to 5 Migration Guide

I have my old Blue Iris key. Do I need to start with BI4 installed or can I just download BI5 and enter my BI4 key?

Blue Iris 4 to 5 Migration Guide

I built the computer solely to use for BI. It doesn't really have anything installed other than all the drivers, Acronis True Image and BI4. I'd rather not wipe the OS. If I just uninstall BI4, I'm not certain that the extended support key would activate BI5. Or would my BI4 key activate...

Blue Iris 4 to 5 Migration Guide

I read page one of this thread. I do have Blue Iris 4 installed, but I haven't used it yet or set up any cameras. I don't care about losing any settings or registry entries for Blue Iris 4. I just purchased the extended support option so I could upgrade to Blue Iris 5. Do I still need to...

Point to Junction Boxes for Soffit Mount?

Thank you for the quick response. I'm trying to understand how this product could work. It must be non conductive. Otherwise it would short out the 8 pins in an RJ45 connector. But if it's non conductive, how can the data signal pass from copper>grease>copper? I'm confused.

Point to Junction Boxes for Soffit Mount?

I know the question wasn't hard. I've never heard of di-electric grease. Anybody?

Point to Junction Boxes for Soffit Mount?

Where exactly and how should you apply di-electric grease? Does it go directly on copper contacts or does it get applied later? Thanks.

    Is Live View Working Correctly?

Thank you. I didn't see those nice instructions. It looks like a couple screen shots may need to be updated to reflect the latest BI version. It was still very helpful.

    Is Live View Working Correctly?

Thank you! That is much better! I noticed another setting on that page for hardware accelerated decode. Mine is currently set to none. I have an Intel Core i7-8700K CPU. Should I change that setting to "Intel" or perhaps "Intel + VideoPostProc"? I do remember seeing a hardware decoding...

    Is Live View Working Correctly?

I have a Nelly's Security (Hikvision) NSC-DB1 wi-fi video doorbell. It works fine with the mobile app Hik-Connect. I can view real time live images or it records to a micro SD card. I just added the doorbell to Blue Iris and Blue Iris is recording the video feed fine. But when I look at the...

    Camera Help?

My surveillance project got delayed, but I did a lot of reading/research on this site 8 months ago. Back then the consensus seemed to be that the 2 MP Dahua Starlight turret models were the best. Is this still valid or have higher resolution models been released that I should now consider? I...

    Network Advice?

Skylake, well that was a depressing post, despite your smiling emoji. :( How would you suggest attempting to secure your home and surveillance network? What do you think is the best setup?

    Network Advice?

Ok, I think I understand now. When I setup the VPN do I actually make it specific to the BI computer or will I just make it specific to my pfSense router?

    Network Advice?

With this kind of setup, does the separate subnet for the surveillance gear add a level of security to your home network? Is there a way that your VPN can connect directly to the surveillance subnet without also gaining access to your home network, which is actually upstream of the surveillance...

    Network Advice?

I'm not sure if this is the correct forum for my questions, but I didn't find another section that seemed to cover networking. I want to add 5-6 ip cameras and a computer running Blue Iris to my wired home GB network. My network currently has several computers, satellite receivers, AV...

Computer Geek, But Surveillance Noob. Please Help!

I actually just read that entire hardware wiki before your post. I didn't find the wiki initially. I've learned that my home built WHS machine won't cut the mustard since it has a Core i5-750 processor from 2010. I also stumbled upon an older thread about the virtures of Blue Iris vs. NVR. I...

Computer Geek, But Surveillance Noob. Please Help!

Any answers to questions 3 and 4? Also, I think I could use some NVR/Software advice. I have already read through the entire Cliff notes (which are excellent). My original plan was to use my high end Netgear ReadyNAS for video storage. It is already connected to a quality POE switch. It...

Computer Geek, But Surveillance Noob. Please Help!

I appologize for the long absence. I intended to work on this surveillance project months ago. But life got in the way. :) I thank everyone for the great advice so far. Since it has been several months, I thought I would make sure that things haven't changed. 1. Do you still recommend the...

Computer Geek, But Surveillance Noob. Please Help!

Real funny! $5000 - $6000 for one camera? Fortunately, I'm not that OCD. Seriously though, is Starlight from Dahua the only reasonable night vision camera around? I will likely buy Dahua, but just want to know the reasonable options. Also, no one has really addressed where to buy Dahua. Is...

Computer Geek, But Surveillance Noob. Please Help!

Thank you tangent. I obviously didn't look at the icons. I do wish Dahua would be a little more consistent in their descriptions however. Some of the starlight models state so in the name or the written description. Is there a comparable technology or image sensor in any other brands of...

Computer Geek, But Surveillance Noob. Please Help!

So how can you be sure you're choosing a Starlight model? The Dahua webpage for the above model doesn't use the word Starlight. At least I don't see it.

Computer Geek, But Surveillance Noob. Please Help!

Oh, I think I may have misinterpreted that 4MP vs 2MP shootout video. I thought they were both "Starlight" models. Was it actually a demonstration of a 4MP non starlight vs. a 2MP starlight? If so, starlight is clearly more important than pixels. Also, I've noticed on the Dahua website that...
