    GMAIL Failure? Anyone Else?

Glad you got it working. On a related note today I realized my NVR had not been sending email since Saturday. I had changed NO settings, but... things happen. I logged in to the Gmail account on the web, and verified it was set to allow "less secure" apps. Then I went to the NVR, turned...

iVMS-4200 for Windows --- how do you rename a camera?

When you go through the setup wizard in iVMS-4200, you have the opportunity to rename cameras. After you exit the wizard, I can't find a way to do that... so I have a list of cameras named "IP Camera01," etc. Those are the names used in every context in iVMS-4200. If you look in the main...

    Mini PTZ v1: Firmware Discussion

@Cole Wood, I should have thought of that. I zoomed back to 9.5x, adjusted focus, re-set the preset... and it seems to have helped. Thanks!

    Mini PTZ v1: Firmware Discussion

I am having trouble with my presets keeping focus. I have a preset that is zoomed in to 10x, and even if I tune focus manually, it eventually drifts off. The camera is set to semi-auto focus, and the subject is a tall bird feeder on the lawn--so there is nothing right behind the subject, all...

Best deal on Imporx (Huisun) v2!

I really enjoy my v2 but it is not problem-free. As others have noted there can be focus issues. I have also found the motion detection to be overly sensitive. It isn't as bad as the v1, which was 100% broken... but it's still not too good! "Pretty good" for $150, like @acvb said.

My Hik/LTS NVR shows me total rec bandwith in 2 places and they don't match

Thanks, I completely overlooked that. I'm not using the substream for anything, but I guess it's still being captured!

    Camera Placement

You've already ordered so my advice is late, but here it is anyway: get one camera and a loooong cable, and temporarily mount it in your locations of interest. You can make plans all day but nothing will be as instructive as actually trying it out. Buy the rest of the cameras once you're sure...

My Hik/LTS NVR shows me total rec bandwith in 2 places and they don't match

If I look in MENU>MAINTENANCE>NET DETECT>NETWORK STAT, my Hik/LTS NVR shows me about 56 Mbps incoming from the cameras... but if I add up the values seen in MENU>MAINTENANCE>SYSTEM INFO>RECORD, it seems like it should be less. So, which number should I believe? In what may be a related...

Blue Iris with this setup or use a NVR

The POE cameras often have a 12V connector as well. Maybe you can just use an AC adapter during the test phase? edit to add: if you are going to use any cameras outside, find a way to test one outside. You need to play with motion detection, really learn its limitations before you make a final...

    Computer vs NVR

Thanks for mentioning Bluecherry, I hadn't heard of that. I do have a FreeBSD server already running, so I should play with it. So far I am satisfied with my NVR though, despite its more limited capabilities. If my requirements change, I can always change course.

    Computer vs NVR

No one is arguing that they are identical, and your needs appear to be different than mine. Like I said upthread "I'm losing out on capabilities compared to using BI, but it's still worth it to me."

    Computer vs NVR

Sure there is. Windows Updates, occasional reboots, antivirus, you need to make a backup of your boot drive... It's not a ton of work, but it is absolutely more than the NVR. And I have 3 other computers already--I love them, but I don't want another one.

LTS 4 MP turret CMIP3042W-28 -- what bitrate/frame rate are you using?

Finally got all my cameras mounted, and most of them are the LTS 4 MP turrets (CMIP3042W-28). Now it's time to monkey with all the settings. If you have the same or similar camera, what quality/bit rate/frame rate did you land on for a good quality/storage compromise?

    Computer vs NVR

I chose an NVR because it is "fire and forget." I did not want to babysit another Windows PC. I'm losing out on capabilities compared to using BI, but it's still worth it to me. It's just personal preference.

Blue Iris with this setup or use a NVR

Before you buy a whole setup I recommend you buy one of the cameras you are interested in using, and run it through the wringer. Motion detection may not work as well as you are hoping.

Best deal on Imporx (Huisun) v2!

I can set it up for them, but if you need outside help every time you want to change exposure settings... Meh. You know how it is, you fiddle with things a lot at first. There are phone apps but I believe that they only offer basic control and no access to the image/exposure settings. Getting...

Best deal on Imporx (Huisun) v2!

I am pretty sure I know the answer to this, but... Is there any way to operate the web UI of this camera with a Mac and no Windows available? I know some people who would like to have one for casual use, like looking at bird feeders... But they are Mac users, with no Windows available... and not...

Looking for a PIR (or similar wireless) driveway alarm

Walkers are not a big concern. I mean, where I live, I am not really concerned about much. But we all just like to know things, right? I have all these cameras and stuff partly for Serious Reasons, but also because it's just fun when the PIR goes off at midnight and it's a coyote in the yard...

Looking for a PIR (or similar wireless) driveway alarm

In my case the sensors are both in shade, and inside waterproof enclosures. (http://www.diy-security-cameras.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/053483020b8b.jpg) The sensor can only see out through a protective membrane. They are pretty safe from the elements, and still look new when I open the...

Looking for a PIR (or similar wireless) driveway alarm

There is no sidewalk but there is foot traffic, yes, so I would like to know if any of it strays into the yard. It's unlikely but then again so are all the things that I bought cameras for. (There are multiple cameras covering the area around the house, recording 24/7.) The PIR sensor is for a...

@erkme73: I have the Dakota 3000 series: http://www.amazon.com/Dakota-Alert-WMA-3000-Wireless-Motion/dp/B000AOMO50 Inside the case is what looks like a normal indoor style PIR sensor. https://www.dakotaalert.com/products.php?cdf=12 I've set the jumpers inside to the recommended outdoor...

Looking for a PIR (or similar wireless) driveway alarm

I'm currently using a Dakota Alert PIR sensor to get a chime indoors when a car or person comes down my driveways or across the lawn in between the driveways. Unfortunately, it hasn't been very reliable. It's prone to false positives in the brighter months even though light never falls on the...
