    Are you sure that the xprotect uses port 8081? There is a chance that a firewall in router is blocking it. + I don't recommend to use port forwarding. VPN is more secure way to connect.

    It's Dahua :p Love the way people read it wrong. I always thought it was Caihua. They really need to get a better logo.. If the camera does not support no-ip, it simply does not. Just use DDNS or something on the list. Other method could be firmware hacking but that's very complicated.

    Old thread but... It's true that the window will be broken and the phone is going to be stolen. With Android this kind of setup would be very nice: The Android device could be somewhere where it is not easy to steal or be seen. Only the webcam part would be visible.

    Try that shutter speed. If it doesn't work just try to adjust it. Auto isn't the best in this case.

    You need to forward the VPN port only (for example raspberry pi running openvpn server) and it's secure. Unless it's a router then I think there is no need for portforwarding.

    Do you have a static IP? Or maybe the firewall is blocking connections? Anyways, you should not expose the NVR directly to the internet. Use VPN or something else safer.
