    IPC-HFW4231E-SE Opinions?

I didn't see any reviews on this mini-bullet model - IPC-HFW4231E-SE, but the performance specs seem very similar to the excellent turret model I have been using lately - IPC-HDW5231R-ZE (very slightly less light sensitivity and fixed focal length lens). Anyone have one who can confirm it is...

Bizarre - two cameras zoom to max at same time!

I was thinking of a place like one I used to know that did this but they put in new batteries and sold them that way.

Bizarre - two cameras zoom to max at same time!

I suppose that could be it, and may be most likely explanation? Although the affected cameras are on two different switches (neither with UPS). Which reminds me...where is a good source for a UPS for a 48 port Cisco POE switch? I'm figuring a good used UPS will work nicely ...if I can find one!

Bizarre - two cameras zoom to max at same time!

Didn't know you could do that ... will try it out, thanks ... although that doesn't explain this happening randomly today (was not viewing anything at the time).

Bizarre - two cameras zoom to max at same time!

Very odd behaviour for two of my four Dahua cameras connected to my Blue Iris server (connected using VPN, there is no internet access to these cameras) (they are: three starlights - IPC-HDW5231R-ZE turret cameras, and one 8MP IPC-HFW5831E-ZE bullet camera). Two of the four zoomed to maximum...

Deer in the yard ... three videos, three cameras

My first video posts here ... not sure the Youtube quality is any good ... does it take some views to get quality setting up'd by them? Anyways: First two are same doe, in the night time. First angle is with Dahua starlight (IPC-HDW5231R-ZE). Second angle is closer but its just a Annke I61R...

Trendnet TV-IP314PI - does it work with Blue Iris?

Thanks but the problem is I don't have it yet: I get to pick among different service awards ... this is one option, but I don't want it if I can't be sure it works with Blue Iris. Anyone know for sure this model is BI compatible?

Trendnet TV-IP314PI - does it work with Blue Iris?

I have a chance to get one for free: does it work with Blue Iris? It is not listed on the Blue Iris website, but there are some close model numbers that are! Thnx.

    Paint it Black?

NOW you tell me! :) I will remember for next time, though. Thanks.

    Paint it Black?

Unfortunately a tree was blocking where I thought I would want to point the left camera...so it was most useful pointing more forward: as a result, I ended up blocking it's view with the other camera. Doh! Will have to reposition things to fix this.

    Paint it Black?

Well just to update: I finally did go ahead and paint two cameras a dark colour and mount them under the soffit...the real test will be next summer! (Pictures below, before I actually connected up the ethernet.)

No clips in UI nor in IOS App

I will disagree with that some what ... I've always found it a little bit lacking! I honestly did read it! :) But the people on this forum are great!!

No clips in UI nor in IOS App

Ah ha! Thanks, seems to be OK now. Was not aware of the status screen, which also showed a clip storage graph ... which was going into the red! I was not sure how to get it all working, but in the end I deleted a bunch of old clips and THEN rdid the DB repair/regenerate, and that combo seemed to...

Ok thanks - I was wondering about that. Of course that can be fixed but doesn’t explain the missing clips/alerts (I am well under capacity still on that drive).

OK, thanks for clarifying...see below (but its just mapped as previously noted, e.g. STORED=F:\storage). (Did I miss anything requested? That last line wasn't clear to me.) Clips and Archiving - STORED: Clips_andArchiving-STORED-Blue Iris Options by Colin Chisholm, on Flickr Clips and...

The Alerts settings are in post #3 above (last image). By "Clips", if you mean the general settings window "Clips and archiving" tab, that is in post 7 above. Not sure what you mean by "stored" tab ... where is that??

No clips in UI nor in IOS App

I am probably not using the New folder (away from Pc ...will check in morning). Not even clear why u would ever need more than one storage location really (but with sub folders per day!). Sub folders might not be needed using the app or BI UI, but it is still unusable effectively from Windows...

No clips in UI nor in IOS App

My PC has a small SSD (about 224GB). But I have a WD purple 8TB drive for video storage mapped to F: drive. So I have defined New (F:\new), Stored (F:\storage) and Alerts (F:\alerts) directories. I do keep the database on the SSD (C:\ drive). I assume this is fine.

No clips in UI nor in IOS App

OK, below is the CLIPS AND ARCHIVING tab of the main settings. Yes, I use subfolders- so I hope that is not it: the system is not usable otherwise: if you go with the default flat structure then the accumulation of files means waiting 5 to 10 minutes to get a list of files to show when you are...

No clips in UI nor in IOS App

I should add that I can see an image when an alert is delivered on IOS, but it is an ancient image (never changes), from before when I changed config and went to continuous recording. I want a current image, and want to be able to browse clips and images in the app.

I have all my cameras now set for continuous recording. I limit them to 1 hour max, and also start a new recording when motion detected. ALERT configuration is checked for "Send a push notification to mobile app", and I do get alerts on the device (but not with any current image, which is how I...

Neighbor has a bomb thrown at their house.

Reminds me of my youth when I lived only a stones through from where that whole family died of mysterious head injuries! :) [EDIT: Sorry, couldn't resist as I had just saw that on imgur: https://i.imgur.com/WvouloQ.jpg]

    How to configure Dahua IP??

The camera is not by the PC so can't hear it, and wasn't sure if I was just digitally zooming with the web i/f. But yes, it was user error: once I both updated the password (to match value set in web i/f) and also set IP address range for the correct subnet, configtool now sees the camera...

    How to configure Dahua IP??

I also wonder if two NICs is confusing the config tool. But mainly now the question is the varifocal issue above...web i/f adjust this or only config tool?

    How to configure Dahua IP??

OK thanks, but still CANNOT get config tool to see the camera even after changing one NIC to 192.168.1.2 and connecting that NIC to POE switch with Dahua (ditto with direct connect using also a POE injector). But at least I can login to it at the default IP of 192.168.1.108 after the temporary...

    How to configure Dahua IP??

Got my first Dahua cameras recently: IPC-HDW5231R-ZE Unlike my older Hikvisions, which I could easily configure with their SADP program... The Dahua camera I've tested does not show up on the Dahua Config Tool. I tried the s/w version shipped with the camera...

    Paint it Black?

Good input, thanks guys. Hey hikwpg: Re step 3: I am not clear if that is two different paints - one primer coat and then a BBQ paint...or is that all the same. If two, are both spray paints? Also a quick scuff with 120 grit paper or what do you do to abrade?
