    ceiling fan

I'm using smartthings and alexa to control some lights and monitor sensors around the house. I'd like to control my ceiling fan and lights on it. I haven't found a z-wave device to do this, anyone on here have a setup that works for this? Thanks!

Camera positioning for full coverage around a simple square house

I have 2 cameras covering the front of my house (in case I have a car parked in front of the neighbor's house), one down each side, one covering the backyard and then one covering the back entrance. I may be adding one to better cover the front entrance as well. I've found that the 3.6mm lens is...

    great debate lts1142w or 9142w

I'm looking at cameras from LTS and can't decide between the 2. On the one hand, the 9142 is easier to install because I won't need the junction box. The 1142 is a turrent design which won't stick out as much. The 9142 has 2 matrix IR's. The one 1142 I have with only 1 IR has been fine. The...

    IR illumination questions and ideas

Turrent cameras are the best cameras to use to avoid that kind of interference. As for IR illuminators, I don't have much experience with them, and haven't looked at them much cause where I'd want to put them, the red glow would be to obvious. The 940nm IRs suck at illumination (if your camera...

    Need wireless suggestions

Same experience I have, except on my deck. But that's because I have a brick house and the AP is on the second floor in the middle of the house. I still have a decent signal, just not as strong. I'm going to get another AP for the first floor and think that should fix the deck issue.

Can someone suggest a good Hikvision dome camera?

I got a cmip3042w from milkisbad here on the forum. It's a 4mp turrnet camera, great picture.

High isn't really recommended cause just because it's "screaming" at you doesn't mean that your device can "yell" loud enough back.

    Cable runs to NVR.

I have the setup that you are thinking about right now and no issues. Thinking back, I probably would've/should've run more cable out there but ti is what it is right now and works just fine.

Try changing the radio from auto to medium. Also, channel width up to 40. Not sure how much you've messed with the config, but that's what I'm currently running with good results.

    where is blue iris support???

I always try to save my product keys in the same folder as the install file. I upgraded to W10 and same thing happened, BI asked for my key. I entered my key and everything was back to normal, didn't lose any settings.

    I need help asap!!!

Blue Iris is my guess Right now I have an i5-4690 with 16gb and an SSD for the OS with one 4mp Hik on my network (for now, converting to all IP shortly) and then pulling 6 other cameras through my Lorex and I haven't had any issues. BI and BI tools always up and I connect through remote desktop...

I have a couple Ubiquiti AC LR units and they work great. Depending on the layout you may want 2 per floor to get good coverage. I have one on the second floor of my house and still get strong signal in the basement. I am planning on getting a pro model so I can mount it outside cause my house...

Analog to IP for SmartThings integration.

Yep. You can still access via the lorex software but I like Blue Iris better. The mobile app works well too.

Analog to IP for SmartThings integration.

You'll need the IP address and username/password to access your DVR, which it sounds like you already have since you can access from a web browser. When adding the camera to Blue Iris, you need to click on the Configure button on the Video tab. Attached is the screenshot of tab window. The...

Do HD analog cameras suffice, or should I go ip?

I agree, go IP if you can afford it. I've gone through a few analog systems and with what I spent, I could've run the cat5 and been done with it. I blame this forum for not finding me and telling me. LOL. Great wealth of knowledge around here. On a side note, do you need the receipt to return to...

Analog to IP for SmartThings integration.

I have a Lorex system (for now) and to pull the stream I entered the IP for the DVR and then selected the camera. I've played with the smarttiles for SmartThings but never got to playing with the video. That being said, the Blue Iris mobile app is pretty good from the little bit I've played with it.

Moving to all IP cameras (finally)

So after a longer time than planned, and a DVR that randomly reboots more than it records, I am finally moving to all IP cameras. I am going to run a total of 11 cameras on a dedicated PC with an i5-4690/16gb/SSD for the system and a WD purple NV for storage. Now here's where I would like some...

My ISP's marketing department has hit a new low

I don't have much other choices in Chicago besides Comcast....AT&T chokes if you watch HD on more than one TV and then start downloading stuff. RCN isn't available near me, so Comcast it is. Thankfully I barely have any issue with them. Mostly a couple random modem reboots and if it does go...

    LTS CMIP3042W 4MP / 4mm

You are correct, it is just a screen capture as to include something in the post for the time being. I will grab a full res later this evening. Not sure what I can do about getting a full night shot as I cannot turn off the light source there.
