POE switches (outdoor) to reduce cable runs

not to take this thread off topic, how exactly do you use the dielectric grease on the connectors? Do you literally apply the grease inside the connectors? or Outside to cover any "holes" that air/moisture might get through ? Got a picture of how it's apply?

POE switches (outdoor) to reduce cable runs

Even though you said "the deck rafters are storm proof", I'd at least consider using dielectric grease on the Ethernet connections (male RJ-45 on cable, female Rj-45 on switch) to help mitigate corrosion from moisture. We've seen recent damage from ants getting into a switch that was...

POE switches (outdoor) to reduce cable runs

Thanks, I was just going to plug the POE switch into another switch on the LAN. That's how my current test camera works, POE switch to another POE switch. All of my cameras in waiting are Hikvision.

POE switches (outdoor) to reduce cable runs

Whether it is Hikvision or any other ONVIF type IP camera doesn't really matter as it is just digital data and will work. Just remember you cannot exceed the number of channels of the NVR, it is best to match brand of camera and NVR, and the switch would plug into the WAN/LAN port of the NVR...

POE switches (outdoor) to reduce cable runs

...and my Hikvision cameras. I think I need to upgrade my NVR though. I was going to run three camera cables through the attic to the POE switch in my office, but I got thinking that I could install a POE switch under the covered deck and use the existing deck camera cables to feed back to the...

Dahua IPC EASY unbricking / recovery over TFTP

I just bought a T5442T-ZE from Andy to match another camera I bought last year. It came with an older firmware and needed to upgrade it to match my other camera. Before Wittaj says another OCD case, I don't upgrade unless there is a reason and the reason was the SmartIR and a few other things...

    Ants

Good to know and dollars to donuts the ants like (TonyR) ladybugs caused a bridge and something arc’d over.

    Ants

It was just the POE switch. I put the warranty replacement in and all three have been fine. I don’t know if the ants contributed to the early failure of the switch or not.

3(or more) PoE switches to one Dahua non-PoE NVR?

...(non-POE) with the same Virtual Host checkbox that you are talking about. My current setup is...4 cams on an external 8-port 10/100 POE switch with 2 Gigabit uplink ports. One of these ports is connected to the NVR and the other to an ASUS router AX86U. Do I need to check or uncheck this box?

POE Cables considered to be Good or degraded if they stop working unless a booster is added ?

I’m going to give my two cents worth of knowledge and best practices / trouble shooting. As lots of good information has already been provided but wanted to stress a few key points for the benefit of others who may ask the same. Wire: The cable must be solid copper and 23 AWG. So rated for...

Unable to stream to non-LAN RTMP after extensive troubleshooting (Youtube Live)

...6 hours troubleshooting last night which I've summarized below. I'd love some help! Here is my setup: I use an Eero router with a TPLink PoE Switch. I do not have any ports forwarded but do have the camera on a static IP. As I understand it, an outbound RTMP stream should not require any...

    Electrical Inspection Wall Of Shame

Great design! If the switch fails in the "ON" mode just yank the handy box to obtain "OFF" mode......built in fail safe! :headbang: </end sarcasm>

    Milesight LPR & Radar camera

Something that REALLY annoys me with this camera. The Day/Night switch has the 'Night to Day' value always 10 ahead of Day to Night value. Which is a problem for me, because the camera gets direct sunlight in the morning and turns off B&W too early. This is probably the camera's way of adding...

My camera keeps going offline every couple of hours. What do I need to check?

“Actual PoE power budget is not guaranteed and will vary as a result of client limitations and environmental factors.” how long of a run, type of cable? The switches I use for ptzs have a couple of 90 watt red ports in the bank. Used to have similar problems using both switches and injectors...

My camera keeps going offline every couple of hours. What do I need to check?

From personal experience in the order of the most likely causes are: RJ45 improper termination Damaged cable (tight bends) IP conflict (Static Addressing) POE port is failing, out of power, loose connection Camera: Improper configuration, bad SD card, hardware failure. Network: Firewall...

My camera keeps going offline every couple of hours. What do I need to check?

So, how do you find out if it is the power or not? My switch will supply up to 30W on each port. This is my switch. https://www.tp-link.com/us/business-networking/omada-sdn-switch/tl-sg3428mp/v1/

My camera keeps going offline every couple of hours. What do I need to check?

It’s almost always the power. Just because the overall advertised budget of a switch doesn’t mean 1 port can handle x amount of that.

My camera keeps going offline every couple of hours. What do I need to check?

From a TP-Link TL-SG3428MP switch that has a 384 W PoE Budget which I'm not using half the power of.

    NVR question

Hello there. I recently purchased an 8ch nvr with 8 cams. The nvr has an integrated poe switch. Due to the structure of my house I have to use a second poe switch to power my cameras. As a result only one cable will attach to the nvr and that will be the internet cable. My question is simple...

    DS-7708NI-I4/8P Reboot Loop (Hikvision)

At the moment I've not logged in to see the web GUI, but the local UI seems to be as expected. EDIT navigating in the browser to the Web GUI and it does bring up a login screen, though I have not gone any further on that as yet __ As for "actually working", it still seems to have a fairly...

yeap, I know that, problem is camera goes offline, I can access the NAS and other devices on the same switch so I'm focusing on something that's going on at the cameras. is there a reason that you believe that my network is the issue? I'm not saying that I'm the best, but at this point, I...

New Reolink Wired POE Doorbell Cam ?

I haven't had that problem yet but I can see it coming and apparently you already have or are anticipating it. With all the great shims made by 3D printer people I was hoping one would design and print something to guard the bottom area where the pin to unlatch the DB is inserted. A stout...
