Thanks, but trying to find these, I can't see anything that matches. The ones I did find are shown below, but thier size is 1/2.7 And it looks like they need a conversion , they don't have direct bnc connectors. See if you can find one and give me a link. I sure don't see them.

There has been multiple discussions on sensor size, and the bottom line seems to be bigger is better. So a big sensor with big mp is best (if you don't have verifocal / zoom lenses) . I have ried to do research into this and if I stick with analog cameras, I find nothing bigger than 1/2.7 ...

May be a dumb question and probably asked before but, if these cameras have been banned, how are they still for sale ? I'd hate to buy a system and then a year from now not be able to use it. B&H , Amazon sell them...

Plus, analog cameras, I don't see any firmware updates available, I don't. think they have updates for them. Ip cameras, yes updates, analog / turbohd cameras..I don't find any. So I would guess for that aspect they would be ok.

If not. I guess I'll have to buy the dvr too. I wasn't fully committed to staying with the dvr. However the one I was looking at say it will do ip also. Must be a hybrid of some kind. It is a hikvision.

Well my current system is out of China too, I've had them for several years. "Smonet." But it's not ip. Analog. But still sends my feed to them and back for remote.

Does it really matter ? Who cares if someone else sees your video? I certainly don't care. And if hikvision was truly banned, how can it still be sold everywhere ?

I am still considering the hikvision cameras... I ordered one 2mp, just to hook to my current system. I checked to see about eventual remote connection using hik-connect. But it doesn't exist in play store for the US. Is there a direct download for this ? And any troubles whether it's dvr...

How can the frame rate for encoding incoming video be less than the incomming and output frame rates. I see 8mp at 8fps where the output is 8mp at 15fps. Just doesn't make sense to me. I don't see how these recorders keep up with a live stream. Or am I missing something here ?

Oh,my mockup is just the 43 inch ... 38 x 22 .. the cardboard section is not the 32 inch behind it, it's just the biggest piece we had. But the 43 inch would just be to big for that location.

I actually do have some light in that location, I believe my current cameras just have bad night vision. There is a street light in the front left, I have my front step lights on all night, and the neighbors garage lights add some too. I guess the only way to really know is to just break down...

I guess we must be the odd people that have it on for monitoring while we are awake. We can just look to see what's going instead of running around the house looking through windows. We have a few alarms set up (driveway stairs into the house, ..) so if one is triggered we can easily look...
