    Catalytic Converter #5 today!

Exactly! The front and rear of the cables are wrapped around the frame or other unmovable parts. The red clamps on each end "pinch" and secure the cable so that "unraveling it" is much, much harder than you think. It definitely could be bypassed if the thief had the time, but that is the...

    Blue Iris Upgrade Hell Rant

I have a question on the amount of CPU usage you are running. Do you have your video stream going directly to disk, and only having the minimal video stream being sent to the screen of your PC? I reduced my CPU from 80-90%, down to 18%, while running 10 cameras. On your issue of "Upgrade...

Unable to eliminate video "traces" during movement

My bad. I didn't see any offering the 1/1.8 sensor but did pick up on the ultra low light and it really is impressive. Apologies for misleading anyone.

Unable to eliminate video "traces" during movement

Holy camera, Batman. The new Dahua 4mp Ultra-lowlight camera is amazing! I am completely convinced that the original camera that started this post simply went bad. I picked up the camera like you suggested (only $66) and holy heck. The night time image is incredible. I can actually see...

Unable to eliminate video "traces" during movement

Very good questions. I made no changes to the camera or firmware. I can't be sure how long it has been this way, I just noticed it recently as I went through some video reviews. I wasn't smart enough to try and reset the camera.. sorry. After all this trying so many different approaches, I...

Unable to eliminate video "traces" during movement

I just checked and yes, night time is having the same effects.... I am going with fenderman's recommendation and grab a different camera. My suspicions seem confirmed with everyone's suggestions so far, no matter what configuration setting I change, the "blurring" is staying consistent, so my...

Unable to eliminate video "traces" during movement

Hi fenderman, long time since I've had to ask you for help. For daytime (which has been my testing so far) has Noise Reduction set at Expert. I am about to test night time where I have it set to off. Do you have a recommendation for a replacement camera? This is guarding my Mothers stored...

Unable to eliminate video "traces" during movement

Ok, I changed each of these settings one by one, and then tested. Unfortunately the "blurring" is again staying consistent.... I could tell how the changes effected the camera, so I know the camera took each change. Under "expert" there are three choices: OFF, Normal, Expert. I have...

Unfortunately there isn't any SD card slot for this particular camera.

Unable to eliminate video "traces" during movement

Here is another copy of the video "blurring" as well as the camera's settings. I have changed many of these settings, one by one, then tested them individually, but so far the same "blurring" effect is happening. ANY and ALL advice is greatly appreciated.

Unable to eliminate video "traces" during movement

Unfortunately there isn't any SD card slot for this particular camera, but I understand your point to try and eliminate the camera/settings from the equation and isolate the video feed vs camera settings.

Unable to eliminate video "traces" during movement

Thank you. Yes, I use Direct to Disc and have the frame rate (20) the same as the camera's.

Unable to eliminate video "traces" during movement

Thank you for responding. I've definitely walked systematically through the shutter speeds, from 1/250 up to 1/100000. Simply no change in the "blurring" effect on this camera......... I've also changed the gain and noise for each and every setting. So far, the "blurring" remains constant at...

Unable to eliminate video "traces" during movement

My Hikvision 2cd2042wd-i camera does not record a clear image of a person during movement. The image is blurred of the person moving with "traces". I sure have tried multiple configuration changes (the camera itself is set to 20fps, as is BlueIris, but that synchronization doesn't seem to help...

    IPC-HFW5231E-Z12 LPR from 137 feet

My recommendation is to do what I ended up doing. I went to an LPC (license plate capture) method, and bypassed the LPR because of the challenges you commented on. Now, my cameras do capture a very readable picture (by a person, not the automated software). The recommendation from...

BI 5 - iPhone app no longer able to connect

UPDATE: PROBLEM SOLVED. I had to go through the "Remote Access Wizard" and allow it to "set up a rule" to allow access. Note: this was the third configuration issue I have found with this particular upgrade. 1. The paths for each camera to "Record" video got changed to "NEW" as the location...

BI 5 - iPhone app no longer able to connect

Here is a possible new clue: I just had the iPhone app "forget" the server, put in the proper "key" and had it verify it. The iPhone BlueIris app automatically populated the fields (IP address, WAN address), I just had to type on "username and password". I added a "dummy" account for test...

BI 5 - iPhone app no longer able to connect

On the WAN access I use a DNS server (to keep up with the changing WAN IP address that providers use). In my trouble shooting, one of my experiments is to disable cellular (i.e., not using the WAN access path) and just enabling wifi, so I am on the same LAN as the Security PC. It shows the...

I pinged the server (on the LAN) and it responds as alive, so it is listening.....)

BI 5 - iPhone app no longer able to connect

Thank you for that! It was DEFINITELY incorrect! It was pointing toward "Program Files/Blue Iris 4/www" not "5". I corrected that, but still not working. (I rebooted each device to ensure the changes were in effect)

BI 5 - iPhone app no longer able to connect

Upgraded to BlueIris 5. Upgrade went smooth. Configuration files migrated well and all cameras appear to be working correctly. BUT the iPhone application can no longer connect. Even within the same Wifi LAN. Even through cellular WAN. (each time making sure that only wifi was on, but...

    IPC-HFW5231E-Z12 LPR from 137 feet

Thanks CC. I have used both my Day and my Night profile (changing when it starts and stops) to find out if I could get "Dusk or Dawn" photos to be clearer. So far I have not found the magic configuration. So I am assuming that you continue to get clear photos during the transition from...

    IPC-HFW5231E-Z12 LPR from 137 feet

Thank you for this response. I am slowly walking through each and every setting, painstakingly changing just one measure at a time, then capturing a video, and then changing the next setting to see the results. Luckily (or unluckily), I have quite a bit of traffic in and out of the...

    IPC-HFW5231E-Z12 LPR from 137 feet

crc2004, I picked up and installed the Dahua and copied your configuration settings just now. Two things that I can't find the settings for: 1. The video is choppy, not smooth running like yours. 2. Manual zoom does not appear to allow me the level of granularity your menu offered. I have two...

    Dedicated License Plate Cam project

I was thinking about your question again, and thought of a less technical response. I definitely see the same effect; some license plates do not reflect as well, due to age or being dirty (I am guessing). They recently came through and made us all turn in our old and buy new license plates. The...
