    backup and restore question

The problem is you have to be able to trust your backups, this can only be done by doing a restore test. I think you may have misunderstood my original post. My restore test had nothing to do the original problem of building from scratch. I took a backup after I had succesfully reconfigured...

Help - Unable to connect to Hikvision cameras after factory reset

So I have solved the issue - it seems so obvious now but it was the last thing I thought to try. Help - Unable to connect to Hikvision cameras after factory reset

Okay - So I am well and truly snookered. I have setup my NVR on the old network 192.168.0.X and on the new 10.0.0.X network and cannot connect to the cameras. On initial setup the cameras are assigned IP addresses by DHCP from 10.0.0.3 onwards. When I try connect to the camera's I get an error...

Help - Unable to connect to Hikvision cameras after factory reset

My network operates on the 10.0.0.X range - I did a network setup with DHCP and my cameras were assigned 10.0.0.4 to 10.0.0.16. If I setup my NVR from factory default without sitting on the network it assigns 192.168.254.X range. Sorry - I am really a network amateur - Are you recommending I...

Camera Password reset - new firmware utility - start time important?

Thats correct - I just wanted to highlight the algorithym uses the start time to calculate the passkey - so If you stop/start your cameras the passkey provided by hikvision will no longer work.

Camera Password reset - new firmware utility - start time important?

Asked and Answered - with the help of hikVision support, I can confirm: Could my problem be that while I was waiting for hikvision support I powered the unit down and then I guess changed the start time for the cameras? The password reset procedure requires the IP cameras to remain connected...
