    Hikvision DS-2CD2132-I 4mm

Hi wonder if I can get a quick answer here please... I was just about to play with a newly arrived DS-2CD2132-I camera. I started to autorun the tiny CD they included and a menu came up with for choices: 2-Line IPC 4-Line Smart IPC 6-Line IPC Intelligent IPC ...not sure what the four choices...

    programming presets/tours/other nonsense on PTZs

Thanks for the reply nayr, I had a feeling that there wasn't going to be an easy solution to programming the unit... I can get it to auto track, it's actually not that difficult to get it to lock on and follow something. It's getting through the multi-layered menus and structuring it to do a...

    programming presets/tours/other nonsense on PTZs

managed to get my Imporx mounted at the front of the house and wired up. Now we're into the programming stage and I could use some guidance or help. The software that came with the unit I can describe with a single word.... sucks! This includes the manuals. I tried googling the topic and even...

    PTZ servo noise

Hi folks... just a small update here... My PTZ has arrived. I haven't had a chance to install it because I'm trying to decide exactly where I'm going to mount it and how I'm going to run the power and data cables... Maybe I'll get a chance to work on this on the coming weekend. In the meantime...

Types of Cat6 cable recommend for surveillance runs

Nayr when your installing something like a PTZ I'm curious to what distances your doing it. I would assume you've installed quite a few of them. I guess what I'm trying to say is that when I think of where a PTZ would be used is on a pole, some where high up, or a large area that needs watching...

    Imporx brand?

My PTZ camera arrived this afternoon from China. I ordered it Nov 23rd and got it in about 8 days... I won't be installing it for a few days until I can get some anchors, maybe the Tapcon fastners, not sure as it's only going into vinyl siding and behind that is the original wood siding that was...

hiding power or data cables outside

This may not be of interest to our advanced installers here but for newbies like me it sort of answers the question I had about how far I can run low voltage cable and still get it to work with normal security cameras. I was originally going to run 120ac power to the camera through conduit but...

hiding power or data cables outside

thanks looked at references... the Trendnet is already on the list... giving up on the 120v and going low voltage as you suggested, took me a night or two things that make sense come slow...

hiding power or data cables outside

I should have explained this better my apology... The unit is suppose to come with a wall wort or transformer that drops 120ac down to 12volts dc. On the other end of the transformer is a two prong plug that you plug into ac... I plan to put the whole power unit into the wall-mounted camera...

hiding power or data cables outside

ok I still have a question. can you run the POE inside the conduit along with the electrical wire? I realize that you can get power from the POE for a lot of situations but rather than get a POE+ device for my coming PTZ I'm wondering if I can do it for one camera. The two cables power/data...

hiding power or data cables outside

thanks fenderman... what an ingenious tool for unhooking the sliding... never saw one before and I'm a bit of a tool nazi... took me a minute to figure out how it works, actually saw a you tube vid on using it... did the conduit search... getting ideas from some posts. Can I rack this one up as...

hiding power or data cables outside

I'm curious as to what can be used to hide data and power cables outside. Some type of channel that doesn't make the job look bad.

Types of Cat6 cable recommend for surveillance runs

wow I didn't know this... so thank you kindly for replying. I'll have a look at the cable you've mention. 20,000 feet my gosh I can't remember the last time I walked over 3+ miles. That's a lotta cable man.

    PTZ servo noise

gosh you're right!... during the time or when that bedroom is in use a change to the program of that PTZ to minimize when it's moving, that's well just a great idea. Would have never thought of it on my own. I was told never to drive faster than my guardian angel could fly. I don't know about...

    PTZ servo noise

Yes that's one of the videos I watched because I was curious how one installs them. This isn't rocket science but there's definitely a few techniques to keep in mind before you start climbing the ladder. Mine is generally to make sure I've got all the tools and parts need so I don't end up...

    PTZ servo noise

shockwave I would be interested in hearing the noise from your unit. It looks similar to the one I'm getting in size. I don't know how easy it would be for you to record the sound it emits. don't need video just an audio recording probably would do just fine. Come to think of it I think I may...

    PTZ servo noise

thanks shockwave... I may be screwed here because the wall I need to mount it on is indeed a bedroom wall which happens to be at the front of the house. just the way the town house is designed, it's what I'v got to work with. I could be making a mountain out of a mole hill as the unit hasn't...

    PTZ servo noise

I guess what might have triggered this paranoia was this footage... saw it a number of days ago and thought holy crap... is this thing wired up right I dunno... to me that's not right but I have diddely hands on with them... like zero. nice footage though towards the end... kinda kool 2:31...

    PTZ servo noise

I just asked the question because I'm wanting to get a feel for how noisy they can be... I e-mailed the folks in china about the concern and they said don't worry. I don't expect it to be as quiet as a mouse but naturally I'm going to be pissed if it sounds like a honda changing gears... kidding.

Types of Cat6 cable recommend for surveillance runs

I'm getting ready to order some cable and I remember Fenderman saying it's really important. I've only used CAT5 or CAT6 for inside installs with regular computer stuff. So before I go ordering a 1k spool and then find it's not appropriate for the job could I get some feedback please. My runs...

where to get POE switches for home setups

I saw Nayr's setup over the front door... nice install. I just have to comment on his vaping. I myself am 5 months tobacco free! That's another story but I had smoked for 35 years and I can't believe I'm off the damn things... and the vaping hardware well you name it I'll probably blown a cloud...

where to get POE switches for home setups

...thank you for the additional comments gentlemen. Vector18 do you remember the type or model number of that install? I'm...

    PTZ servo noise

thanks Fenderman... that's sort of the area I'm looking around 500 not much less and hopefully not too much more. Yes on the POE+ apsect. I also one where you mount sort of a flat plate on the wall first. Then there's a box you screw that on next and the box has a hinge along one vertical side...

    PTZ servo noise

I'm thinking of eventually getting a PTZ camera, more to learn stuff than anything. I googled the topic and watched a bunch of videos and the one thing I noticed in a few was the loud servo noises as they tracked. A lot of the video yous ee have music to them or some other sound or no sound. Not...

where to get POE switches for home setups

Thanks for the link fenderman. I should have had the foresight to google the topic and I did google more after you sent me the link. I did notice there's a slight difference between Cat5 and Cat6 connector modules. Not much but it's there and some involve more than just shoving the wires in and...
