    Infrared focus shift - explanation

So part 1 left us focussing at night time with IR ON. Now I took a new set of pictures during daytime: - Scenario: Camera was focussed at night time with IR-ON. 1) 1ste one has been made during daytime before refocussing the camera 2) the 2nd has been made during daytime after refocussing the...

Dahua Firmware Mod Kit + Modded Dahua Firmware

If you can query the IR status you could just go to the focus point that was saved instead of a full refocus. I wasn't implying a full refocus actually. It would work exactly as using the HTTP API. The stored focus points can be saved in the tmp folder. How to focus is not the issue, it's more...

Dahua Firmware Mod Kit + Modded Dahua Firmware

@TVT73 Blast, I was afraid of that. But maybe...the IR-status or the position of the IR-cut filter can be queried/polled, as I pointed out above aka "the alternative way". Then it's a matter of querying it often enough to have fast response. That could be done with a cronjob on the camera...

    Infrared focus shift - explanation

The proof is in the pudding:) - Scenario: I have focussed the camera 30 minutes before it would switch to B/W itself. Then, at full darkness I took 2 photo's. 1) 1ste one has been made before refocussing the camera for IR-light. 2) the 2nd has been made after refocussing the camera for IR-light...

Dahua Firmware Mod Kit + Modded Dahua Firmware

Hi Cor35Vet, You did a great job make the firmware more customizable. Thanks! The entire thread is an interesting read. I would like to ask your opinion on something. How hard would it be to identify the code responsible for a D/N shift and make it perform an extra action when it activates the...

    Infrared focus shift - explanation

I don't believe it is the same. The "open iris" thing is preserve depth of field during nightime. If you focus during daytime (on a bright day) the aperture hole is very small = large DOF. When night comes, the aperture opens up and the DOF decreases. To migitate that, it seems you have to focus...

    Infrared focus shift - explanation

I think I somewhat understand it now. The focus shift we are talking about here is longitudinal chromatic aberration. A lens cannot focus all colours in the same plane in the longitudinal direction: see graphical representation (red coloured section of the graphic) in the opening post. Net...

    Infrared focus shift - explanation

Since this is the focus thread something has come to my attention. I can find a fair amount of suggestions, telling to focus at "near" dark to compromise on the focus shift. The goal is to have the iris open the aperture fully of close to full. Apparently, focussing in bright weather...

    Infrared focus shift - explanation

Is this so for ALL PTZ? I was thinking about getting a SD6AE240V-HNI because the focus shift thing is driving up the wall. But you are saying it might be worse?

Dahua NVR will not find either of my two Dahua IPCs

I'm not sure all routers allow that but yeah that boils down to more or less the same thing. Splitting hairs but it's still not as good as fixed:-)

Dahua NVR will not find either of my two Dahua IPCs

If I'm not mistaken, you have changed the camera password (for the one that does not work)? Dahua forces you to I believe. When you add the cams in the NVR, you have to provide the new password you chose. It may be as simple as that. All your gear is in the same subnet so it should work. Even...

My bet I was a bit too fast there. You are entirely correct

Dahua NVR will not find either of my two Dahua IPCs

Let me briefly elaborate. All the other stuff in your home is in a subnet too. It could be for instance 192.168.0.0/24 (this is called a subnet). Which means the first device in the subnet can be 192.168.0.1 and the last 192.168.0.253 (.254 and .255 are special and cannot be used for devices)...

Dahua NVR will not find either of my two Dahua IPCs

If you need any details about a step just give me a shout. Putting the cam's behind the NVR-directly will make the NVR put them in a whole new subnet. I believe it is the 10.x.x.x network in your screenshot. I really dislike that as you then will no longer be able to connect to the camera's...

Dahua NVR will not find either of my two Dahua IPCs

First things first. 1. Reset the camera's. 2. Plug them both into the same (POE) switch. 3. Assign your laptop a static IP address in the same default subnet as the camera's you have reset. Plug the laptop into the POE-switch. Now you can get into the camera WEB-GUI. 4. Assign the camera's a...

    Infrared focus shift - explanation

It is using the CGI-interface. I've attached the PDF for reference. You can thus send the camera the focus value using HTTP and it will change its focus to that value. However, there is not an accurate enough trigger. The exact moment for D/N switching depends on the kind of day: cloudy, sunny...

    Infrared focus shift - explanation

I appreciate you taking the time explaining this in more detail. Kudo's! It is certainly useful. However, a fix is pretty easy! When the camera switches from day to night or the other way around, you can make it go to a *stored* focus value. Do note the fact it goes to a stored value. It does...

    Dahua Starlight PTZ

An educated guess is that it should work. Dahua support IEEE 802.3at en IEEE 802.3af. However, that does not mean it supports bt. Please see http://www.dahuasecurity.com/download/DH-S1000-8TP_Datasheet_20161019.pdf So that tells me their cam's expect the traditional PoE voltage. Don't blame me...

    IR illuminator mounting tips

Just double checking I'm doing the best job I can. Where and how do you mount your IR? I usually mount it slightly (like 10 to 15 cm) above the camera looking in the same direction (same angle) as the camera. I also point it downwards a bit depending on how far I want the IR-to reach. The...

Any Dahua cams WITHOUT the focus bug?

I'm still trying to get a fix. I agree a fix should not be particularly hard. After all, I can refocus to a known (saved) value using the CGI. I just don't have a good trigger. The only good trigger is moment when a D/N switch occurs.

    Dahua Starlight PTZ

Very very impressive indeed. That goes for the price too:). I think the sweet spot for the prosumer is SD6AE240V-HNI. Well, at least for me. Contacted Andy too and I can just about afford it haha I'm not the type to concede too much on tech. I want these things to perform admirably when needed...

    Dahua Starlight PTZ

Hi jmcu, did you ever own a starlight with the 1/9" sensor? It seems that the top version, which I probably cannot afford, SD10A248V-HNI uses one. The SD6AL245U-HNI-IR seems to have 2 lenses? Pretty noob at PTZ's but I get camera tech in general. Perhaps it has a separate day and night sensor?

    Dahua Starlight PTZ

Hi everyone, Does anyone have experience with 1/1.9” 2Megapixel CMOS vs 1/2.8” 2Megapixel STARVIS™ CMOS And then as a treat the 4K Dahua has a 12MP sensor, 1/1.7” 12Megapixel STARVIS™ CMOS. Strange as 4K is less than 12MP. I need excellent low light performance so I'm weary about the 2.8"...

Any Dahua cams WITHOUT the focus bug?

Yes correct and that's why it needs to refocus. The optics are probably not IR corrected or sufficiently so.

Any Dahua cams WITHOUT the focus bug?

I'm in that thread to check my model also (IPC-HFW8231E-Z). Any chance you can get that model listed as well to them? At any rate, for the new ones I want to buy I sent you an e-mail.

Any Dahua cams WITHOUT the focus bug?

Hi all, Is anyone aware of Dahua camera's, preferably starlights, that do not have the focus bug? For those that do not know what the focus bug is: - When you focus the camera at day time, the night time focus is off after it removes the IR-cut filter. I.E. the picture loses sharpness (=...

    Varifocal single point?

No it isn't but if you don't have it you must be 100% sure about the lens or you need to move it closer psychically. If you can spare the cash go varifocal. It's way easier to get the right scene view.

NVR4204-P IVS time line markers for intrusion/tripwire AWOL

So it was not the message box. I don't know what it is for :-) To get this working again, I just deleted all tripwires in the GUI of the camera (so not in the NVR-GUI). Rebooted NVR + CAM and then recreated the tripwire + intrusion zones in the CAM GUI (so not in the NVR GUI) and everything...
