Can you reset a camera via command line?

My dad has some 4k Lorex IP cams, while trying to debug some POE problems he pushed the reset button on them a few times. Now one camera's Reset button is broken, he pushed it in so far and it won't reset anymore. Is there a way to use Putty or something to tell it to reset via software/command...

Trouble seeing cams after replacing NVR fan

Looks like that might be it, resetting cameras didn't do it and there doesn't seem to be the light at the POE port. Is there an easy way to troubleshoot this, I guess put back in the old fan and see if it changes? I can't imagine the newer fan (it's a Noctua of the same size) would draw too much...

Trouble seeing cams after replacing NVR fan

Yes this is what happened. I tried doing a factory reset in the NVR software, but this didn't solve the problem. Should I try to attempt a hard reset of some sort? I read that some cameras have physical reset buttons if you open them to reveal the circuit board, should I try that? My dad tried...

Trouble seeing cams after replacing NVR fan

My parents have a Lorex kit from Costco w/ four 4K bullet cams and an 8-port NVR, model NR908X-N. Installed everything a few weeks ago and it worked, 4 cameras showed up (ports 1-4) in web app, client, phone app, everything working properly. Turns out the fan was too loud for them so they...

    Thougts on Lorex starter system?

That's what got me curious, the ONVIF part is advertised on other cameras so I figured surely it's not a mistake that it isn't listed for these. Sent from my Z2 Plus using Tapatalk

    Thougts on Lorex starter system?

Wayne, Thanks for the interesting input. One of the main things I was worried about with this deal was that I could find zero information regarding the cameras being ONVIF compatible, which I figured would be mentioned if they were. I've seen random posts in the past about how Lorex are...

Separate switches or same switch for IP cams and home network?

Ah good idea, thank you fenderman for the helpful information as always!!

Separate switches or same switch for IP cams and home network?

I suppose it would be better to get these 2 and use them together: 24 port unmanaged switch - no POE for my home network which only needs 10-20 ports and 16-port PoE switch for IP cams

Separate switches or same switch for IP cams and home network?

Ah you are right, it's 48 POE ports and 8 POE+ ports. Misread it...

Separate switches or same switch for IP cams and home network?

That particular switch only has 8 POE ports not all 48 though. Would it be louder than two separate switches instead?

Separate switches or same switch for IP cams and home network?

I'm planning on building out my home network soon by adding Cat6 cables to every room, plus running cables to ~8 locations around the house for IP cams. Something that seems like it would solve this is e.g. a 48-port POE gigabit switch (e.g.this Netgear). Is this frowned upon for any reason or...

What Dahua model is the Lorex LKB343B?

Would the camera work with Blue Iris or similar software? Or is it locked to the Lorex brand NVR? Also how can you tell this stuff, seems the information is hard to come by and datasheet doesn't have a lot at least to my eyes. Sent from my Z2 Plus using Tapatalk

    Thougts on Lorex starter system?

Costco Wholesale The above is on sale for $499 now at Costco, it's four 4 MP cameras (Lorex) and an accompanying NVR with support for 8 channels and a 2 TB HDD. I've been waiting for a 4 MP bundle since I don't want lower viewing resolution, and 8 CH is probably about as much as I'd want in the...

Why are prebuilt computers like the Optiplex heavily recommended by some?

Wow that does seem like quite the deal when you explain it like that, I haven't shopped for new computer parts in a while. I didn't find the one you posted exactly but was able to find the Optiplex code on their twitter and found something similar on their website. Thanks again for all the...

Why are prebuilt computers like the Optiplex heavily recommended by some?

I'm assuming you had some way of getting it cheaper than the average Joe, but for the rest of us is eBay the place to go to find them? I recall reading a suggestion on here about eBay but not much else.

Why are prebuilt computers like the Optiplex heavily recommended by some?

Okay so it sounds like they're high quality PCs with conveniently small form factor which is useful for NVR type applications. And as I understand it, it's a good deal to get one of those in particular because they're typically refurbs and thus have been taken care of but are cheaper since...

Why are prebuilt computers like the Optiplex heavily recommended by some?

As the title states, I'm curious why people highly recommend the prebuild computers when some people ask what type of rig to build capable of handling Blue Iris. Is it just because they're a good value relative to the parts you can buy separately and configure yourself? Just wondering as...

Do most people save cam data 24/7 or only when motion sensing works?

I was almost certain I read somewhere (perhaps here or on some Reddit posts on IP cams) that if you use the setting which only records to disk when motion sensor detects something that it requires much more CPU. Is what you're talking about simply recording everything but also keep track of when...

Do most people save cam data 24/7 or only when motion sensing works?

I've read some about BlueIris and that it seems to have good motion sensing capabilities, but that doing so requires a ton of CPU usage, whereas simply saving cam data to disk is much less of a CPU burden. Do the majority of people do motion sensing and only save data triggered by those events...

    Thoughts on LaView NVR system?

So I got a deal alert from slickdeals for a system with 4 or 6 LaView cams (4 MP) with the NVR. (4 cam bundle $600, 6 cam bundle $900). How do people feel about LaView cameras in general? I've been looking for some higher quality (3 MP+) cameras to get a system started for my home and figured...

Is air circulation a problem for a server (w/ Blue Iris for example) in a closet?

I'm in the research stage and was wondering if heat is an issue for having a server in a confined closet. I'd like to have my data storage in a locked closet which won't have AC. Do NVRs or even more powerful systems with Blue Iris cause too much heat for a closet that doesn't get circulation...

    DS-2CD2020F-I and zoneminded

Out of curiosity, what kind of server specs did you end up using and for how many cameras, etc? I'm curious as to what's required for a ZoneMinder system.
