    Multiple network cards

I'm not sure implementing 3 network cards with different IP addresses equates to "implementing VLANs" - can you give more detail?

Defined Subnet versus VLAN: Is there a difference in my example for Blue IrisI

Rob - from what I see in your drawing, VLANs aside, the short answer is yes, the BI PC should be able to see cameras on both 192.168.0.X and 192.168.20.X. The is because the BI PC is on both networks via your dual NIC configuration. VLANs configured on managed switches ( or a combo of both...

Dual NIC setup keeps crashing network

If you look at the dual NIC wiki, it mentions that the default gateway on the 2nd NIC must be blank. Dual NIC setup on your Blue Iris Machine This would be the NIC that connects to all your cameras

Both of those packet capture screenshots don't show anything but local traffic. Is it possible for you to block everything but RTSP?

Making sure cameras aren't "calling home"?

You should be all set then. The cameras are on the network attached to the 2nd NIC. From what you've described, there is no default gateway that would route the traffic out. The 2nd NIC in the BI machine should have no default gateway configured either. You can plug in a bogus IP in...

User account control is the first thing I disable when I build a Windows machine. Have you looked in the control panel to make "adjustments" to UAC or disable altogether?

How to delay Schedule changes for 60 seconds etc?

I do something similar using the geo location on my phone. When I come home, BI goes into a temp schedule for 2 minutes which still records but doesn't alert. Then after the 2 minutes, it resumes the normal schedule based on time of day.

Blue Iris app + business related + I'm not to sure

@Holbs - how advanced is the IT team? Do they already have a domain registered? If they have skills - you could deploy BI with some additional security layered in with something like this:

    Cannot connect IP camera

It's not an IPv6 thing - you don't need that to connect to the camera. Have you tried connecting to http://192.168.2.129 ? I am assuming your PC is also on the 192.168.2.X network

    Storage limit

Yes you can. Look at the record tab on the camera. there you will find the folder location for where the camera records. You can change that location and then control the retention of the new location under Clips & Archiving under BI settings. You can do this on a per camera basis if you want.

Cameras have no signal in Blue Iris

While posts above are assuming it's a problem with cameras, you should also check that there isn't a networking problem with the BI machine going on as well.

    Funny / Satire

We had one of those touch faucets in the kitchen that used to engage when I was on 80M - drove me nuts. Tried installing ferrite cores on the long cable that led to the battery pack which I was convinced was acting as an antenna - to no avail. Finally ended up getting rid of the faucet.

Installing ethernet wire from 14-foot eaves soffit to 8-foot camera height

@builder - Is it a hard and fast rule that the cameras need to be at 8 feet? I don't think it is. As an alternative, why couldn't you take those 5442 varifocals, mount them where you have boxes already installed with ethernet in the soffit and make up the difference with the varifocal zoom...

Lagging... What Am I Doing Wrong?

The one thing you can do for the ethernet port is to setup to 1000Mbps/Full and not leave set to auto on the switch. You would need to do the same for the ethernet adapter in Windows as well. This helps to alleviate the sudden switch over to 100Mbps.

Dahua NVR "control room" connection, 3 open ports on router

VPN would be your best option. If you had to open ports, you could try and restrict access via IP address of the people that need the access, Also - I can VPN into my network in just a few seconds. Setting up the VPN is not that hard and wouldn't require a great deal of time. Your mileage...

    Good Internet Filter?

Look at setting up a free account with OpenDNS.com - there you can configure many settings and it’s an easy DHCP change on your network/router to point to their servers. I also second the Pi-hole option. You can run it on a raspberry Pi on your local LAN. It has some nice graphs and reporting...

    Windscribe VPN Causes No Signal

Sounds like it's working as desired. By connecting to a VPN, you are basically "removing" that PC from the local LAN which would result in dropped cameras. Why would you install this on the Blue Iris PC to begin with? Are you looking to access Blue Iris remotely? If so, you are looking at...

VLAN & NICs & Switch "Sharing"

Technically yes - but the way we typically see this put together is having all the of the hosts that need to talk to each other be on the same switch & VLAN and the cameras would be on a different switch along with the 2nd NIC on your BI PC all on a different VLAN or let's call it different subnet.

VLAN & NICs & Switch "Sharing"

Looks fine from what you have on the drawing so far. Technically, you don't need Vlans configured on the switch. Just put the cameras on the new switch and configure the 2nd NIC on the BI machine on the new 192.168.2.X with all the cameras. That would work just fine as well while at the same...
