    Get camera password from NVR?

So I am an idiot and I forgot the passwords I set for all of my cameras. My Dahua 4216 NVR still connects to them fine as it has the passwords stored. Is there a way to extract the passwords from the NVR so I do not have to take each one down and open them up to hunt for the reset switches?

Someone talk me out of getting wireless cameras.

Thanks. All I need is the cables pulled. I can do all the terminations, mounting, and clean up myself.

Someone talk me out of getting wireless cameras.

This is where I am siding. For the first time in my life, I am moving from the country into the city. The new house does not have network drops in all the rooms that should require them. Between that and the need for proper camera wiring I am going to get a quote. As long as it is not...

Someone talk me out of getting wireless cameras.

It is a possibility. I wonder if I can get PLAs with POE. Would really like to limit the amount of exposed wire to nil. That being said, I could likely get creative with some electrical splicing and running wires up walls from the existing outlet, so that is a good idea. I just do not want...

Someone talk me out of getting wireless cameras.

Hi all, I am about to move into a 2 story house with little to no attic access. I have had cameras on both of my previous homes, but, they were one stories and running cables was easy. In order to get cameras mounted in the correct areas at the new house, would require darn near tearing...

Finished my CCTV install on my new house today.

My best camera sits in front of the garage door. The one in the garage is really more for daytime use. Garage is always shut during the night, open during the day. I still have some more things to do though, I need to get PIRs for the PTZs and set them for it.

Finished my CCTV install on my new house today.

Thanks for the tip. I will see how it goes when I finish everything else I need to do around this new house. I am having a pole barn built to store my boat and zero turn mower, along with other things in this garage. When the project is complete, my Durango (dark blue) will be parked closest...

Finished my CCTV install on my new house today.

This one is in my garage, so 0 interference with other lights. Seems to be going OK so far. Fenderman is right though, I ordered this a bit hastily and will never be able to upgrade their firmware because they are China only. In any case, I am happy with the picture so far....

We shall see, I got it on a NewEgg flash sale for $150 USD. I decided to take my chances. It is also hung under an eave that is protected by gutters.

1 Cam up, proposed layout, open to suggestions.

I think you are on a good track. A lot of people say all cameras should see other cameras, but, for me, its just not practical. The aim for my house was the same as yours, 100% coverage. I would have had to have at least 7 more cams to have them watching each other.

    Dahua NVR user blacklisted

Hello all, I have a Dahua NVR-4216-8P that I cant get to work with my gDMSS lite app no matter what I try. I have changed all the default password, and created a new user. I have tried connecting with both the admin account and the new user, and both get the message "user is in blacklist"...

    New to PTZ

Awesome... looks like on the second video you have it set to a super slow sweep. Might not catch what you need, but, its still cool to see random events around house.

    New to PTZ

Good advise... I can spend some money on some PIRs and set the camera to go to presets based on the motion detection. BTW, I 8 other fixed cameras on the house. Mainly wanted the PTZ to be able to zoom to the street for plates. But, if I have a fancy PTZ, might as well use it to its...

Well thanks. Not sure what this PTZ is going to do for me if I just leave it fixed then. I guess its just a fun toy to play with.

it is not a random tour, it tours to 5 presets.... this still does not answer my question though, is it bad for the camera to leave it on tour?

    Hello from North Texas!

I am not new to CCTV, but, new to the forum. CCTV forums do not seem to get the traffic they used to, so I find myself here. I just bought a new house and am in the process of installing my new system. I have 5 Dahua cameras including one of them being a PTZ so far. Big upgrade from my last...

I just got my first Dahua PTZ. Is it bad for it to leave it on tour 24/7? Should I set motion detection to trigger the tour so I dont burn out the motor?
