I've poked around the camera interface, and can't see any way to mask an area from being included in Smart Motion Detection. Is this not possible, or not intuitive... or am I an idiot for missing it? Cheers guys. -

There are some extremely good processor comparison resources around. One is on the Intel website, and there are numerous other independent ones. I didn't bookmark them, but it didn't take heaps of searching to find stuff either. I think one was simply CPU Benchmark.- Barboots

Would you take a whitespace... exactly where you suggested though! I must have slipped it in there while replacing deletions made to simplify the string while fault-finding other aspects. Maybe I'll have to accept using my BI computer on websites. I made this task a lot harder by not being able...- Barboots

I've just been proving how tech-tarded I'm becoming by trying to get this working. I've got to the point where I'm getting a notification with a snapshot and link to UI3, but this takes me to a live view of all cams... not a clip of the alert event. I doubt this is correct given the complexity...- Barboots

Any Gotchas or General Advice if Considering HA on My Blue Iris Winbox
I have now got my Blue Iris system running in a stable manner, and was thinking I could get HASS running alongside it. Is this a bad idea... particularly with respect to reducing the security of the Blue Iris system? Cheers! Steve- Barboots

I'm getting far less days of storage than expected from 8 cams onto a 14TB drive. I've attached a photo of my storage settings, which I acknowledge I could be misinterpreting. Currently I have footage back to 29 October, with the BI status bar reporting "Clips: 521 items, 1.58T / 11.73T"... -

Yes, sorry if it sounded like I was discounting Smart Codec being enabled as the root cause, my long point was that changing the setting didn't clear the problem until after a full reboot. The cam didn't demand it (as it does with some changes), and no amount of work in BI would... -

TLDR: unplugging the camera fixed this. Full fluff post: Some closure... changing the codec and other suggested settings didn't fix this. I poked around settings and found a couple of inconsistencies in the cam's UI when compared to other identical cams, but changing them didn't help either... -

My PoE switch is under the house along with my original Dahua NVR. It's in a cool, dry and dust free location... and can't be easily found. My BI winbox is on my desk until I'm finished getting it right then it will go there in place of the Dahua. -

Blue Iris is showing a yellow exclamation mark against one of my cameras. The live view is fluent and without any glitches. Triggers played back are garbled. I've tried different frame rates, down from 12 to 3. I've "restarted camera". I've restarted BI. I have not disconnectedly the camera... -

Conclusion: EXT2toNTFS locked up my Win11 box bad, even using compatibility mode. Ctrl/Alt/Del didn't break the loop so it was a hard shutdown to recover. Not recommended. Put uSD card back in original cam. No problem. WiFi download wasn't terrible actually, and concurrent transfers were... -

Just did a quick search and couldn't find anything obvious... is there any special requirement to view the contents of an SD card out of Dahua 5442 cams using a PC? Windows just reported that I need to format it first. Obviously that's not a plan! -

Dahua NVR or Blue Iris?
Bought a mint EliteDesk 800 G4 SFF i7-8700 with 8Mb RAM and a 128SGb SSD. Have the demo BI installed, and cleared out all the Win11 junk. Waiting on a 14TB Purple and I'll be getting stuck into it. Watching online markets for a cheap/good extra 8GB of RAM. Is there a "cliff notes" equivalent...- Barboots
