    5442TM-ASE Masking of SMD Area

My IVS game is so bad... I'm the king of false triggers. I might have to search out some 101 / ELI5 on getting it to work properly, because SMD is currently doing miles better than my IVS efforts.

Ahhhh righty-o.. I didn't think that was going to be global. Many thanks mate.

    5442TM-ASE Masking of SMD Area

I've poked around the camera interface, and can't see any way to mask an area from being included in Smart Motion Detection. Is this not possible, or not intuitive... or am I an idiot for missing it? Cheers guys.

I7-8700k still the best budget friendly option?

There are some extremely good processor comparison resources around. One is on the Intel website, and there are numerous other independent ones. I didn't bookmark them, but it didn't take heaps of searching to find stuff either. I think one was simply CPU Benchmark.

Send Pushover notifications with pictures and hyperlinks

Would you take a whitespace... exactly where you suggested though! I must have slipped it in there while replacing deletions made to simplify the string while fault-finding other aspects. Maybe I'll have to accept using my BI computer on websites. I made this task a lot harder by not being able...

Send Pushover notifications with pictures and hyperlinks

I've just been proving how tech-tarded I'm becoming by trying to get this working. I've got to the point where I'm getting a notification with a snapshot and link to UI3, but this takes me to a live view of all cams... not a clip of the alert event. I doubt this is correct given the complexity...

Any Gotchas or General Advice if Considering HA on My Blue Iris Winbox

I have now got my Blue Iris system running in a stable manner, and was thinking I could get HASS running alongside it. Is this a bad idea... particularly with respect to reducing the security of the Blue Iris system? Cheers! Steve

Thanks for all of that. I'll make changes in accordance.

Less Than Expected Days of Storage

I'm getting far less days of storage than expected from 8 cams onto a 14TB drive. I've attached a photo of my storage settings, which I acknowledge I could be misinterpreting. Currently I have footage back to 29 October, with the BI status bar reporting "Clips: 521 items, 1.58T / 11.73T"...

    Post Update, Timeline Empty

Thanks BP. I'm expecting that the update would not have trashed the stored data files, so I think this should work. I didn't want to go poking around and purge anything accidentally. I've just headed out for the day, but will report back once home.

    Post Update, Timeline Empty

Hey guys. I just updated one step to 5.7.9.12 after dredging through some "activities" last night. My partner comes inside and asks for a look. Timeline now only shows the last six hours. Any clues on how to restore the full timeline?

Purchased the official Blueiris app and received £11 cashback!

Did you have any indication you would receive this deal? I'm just looking to get Android notification access set up, and am considering the BI app. Cheers!

Yellow Exclamation Mark, Live OK, Recording NFG

Yes, sorry if it sounded like I was discounting Smart Codec being enabled as the root cause, my long point was that changing the setting didn't clear the problem until after a full reboot. The cam didn't demand it (as it does with some changes), and no amount of work in BI would...

Yellow Exclamation Mark, Live OK, Recording NFG

TLDR: unplugging the camera fixed this. Full fluff post: Some closure... changing the codec and other suggested settings didn't fix this. I poked around settings and found a couple of inconsistencies in the cam's UI when compared to other identical cams, but changing them didn't help either...

Yellow Exclamation Mark, Live OK, Recording NFG

My PoE switch is under the house along with my original Dahua NVR. It's in a cool, dry and dust free location... and can't be easily found. My BI winbox is on my desk until I'm finished getting it right then it will go there in place of the Dahua.

Yellow Exclamation Mark, Live OK, Recording NFG

Blue Iris is showing a yellow exclamation mark against one of my cameras. The live view is fluent and without any glitches. Triggers played back are garbled. I've tried different frame rates, down from 12 to 3. I've "restarted camera". I've restarted BI. I have not disconnectedly the camera...

Read Dahua Cam Card on PC

Conclusion: EXT2toNTFS locked up my Win11 box bad, even using compatibility mode. Ctrl/Alt/Del didn't break the loop so it was a hard shutdown to recover. Not recommended. Put uSD card back in original cam. No problem. WiFi download wasn't terrible actually, and concurrent transfers were...

Read Dahua Cam Card on PC

It's out of a cam located at a different site to my home. Ethernet access to the network is a bit of fluffing around... the WiFi access isn't great because the source is buried. I thought pulling the card would be easier. [emoji849] Lessons...

Read Dahua Cam Card on PC

Thanks mate. Years ago I used an exe called EXT2toNTFS or something like that to read a hard drive out of a TV recorder. If that doesn't work, I'll make a Linux bootable... Cheers!

So it has to go back into the cam and be read over IP?

Read Dahua Cam Card on PC

Just did a quick search and couldn't find anything obvious... is there any special requirement to view the contents of an SD card out of Dahua 5442 cams using a PC? Windows just reported that I need to format it first. Obviously that's not a plan!

Which Brand of Home Security Cam

I'm going to admit that I tried a Google Nest system in this property we re-took possession of. I needed something to put in place "that day", with off-site storage, and bandwidth considerate of an LTE hotspot. It actually didn't suck too badly, though bear in mind that it was quite expensive ...

    Dahua NVR or Blue Iris?

Bought a mint EliteDesk 800 G4 SFF i7-8700 with 8Mb RAM and a 128SGb SSD. Have the demo BI installed, and cleared out all the Win11 junk. Waiting on a 14TB Purple and I'll be getting stuck into it. Watching online markets for a cheap/good extra 8GB of RAM. Is there a "cliff notes" equivalent...

    Dahua NVR or Blue Iris?

Not so many i5-8500 EliteDesks, so I have a list of some others I'm considering. Pricing is AU so will be higher than y'all are used to seeing. The two that have video cards also have onboard with Quick Sync, so i could possibly scrape back a few bucks there. What do you think??? HP...

    Dahua NVR or Blue Iris?

I think I'm getting convinced now. Reading this I just played around using an old i3 2400 I had idle, and within a short time got all my cams enabled (bar one) and three recording full-time. The i3 started to die in the ass after that... but I'm now looking at HP Elitedesk i5-8500 as I think...

    Dahua NVR or Blue Iris?

I have a new second surveillance site with 2x Dahua 5442TMP-ASE and maybe a few of my 2MP Starlight hand-downs. I need an NVR, and am trying to decide which way to go. The cheapest/easiest option is to buy a bottom of the range Dahua NVR for a few hundred bucks (AU) and be done with it. An...
