jeez, those pictures. poor camera. Looks like you just got unlucky over all, glad there wasn't a fire. If lightning is common in your area then i think they do make surge protectors for ethernet cables.

could put a metal shade over it to stop rain from covering the dome, as for the poor nightvision (i presume you mean the ally being dark) you could install a second IR illumination

active-x is not a streaming protocol, its just an outdated plugin type for internet explorer. Try using a different streaming method in blue iris and see if the issue still happens (if you are using RTSP, try MJPEG)

is the camera in direct sunlight and do you live somewhere excessively hot? if so, might be a thermal issue

I have a £20 camera which has no web interface and awful compression, but it works and a £30 one that is fantastic, works fast and in full HD. Its really a gamble.

Im having a problem with this. Just installed it manually on a fairly old blue iris install and can only see one clip for each of the cameras, despite having a lot of them in the blue iris. Ive tried a lot of versions and the problem is there in all of them. any ideas?

could get one of those ebay lasers and shine it at it for a while. they are generally much higher power than advertised and would do some damage.

amcrest pro-HDs, i have two of them and they work fantastically. the power leads are very long and thin too so they can be mounted pretty easy.

dahua makes some good ones. I have a floureon one (generic w/ brand name) which works ok. wifi from outside tends to have bad signal but if you buy a larger antenna then it can work better. if you can, use ethernet.
