    BI "overhead" CPU usage?

I did see this info within a related thread, but you have linked to a more detailed guide. Thanks for reaching out and providing it! If I understand correctly, this will prevent WIN updates from *replacing* the driver, but the driver may still be *removed* as part of the update process...

    Reolink?

Agree on spending only a bit more for a better cam. I'll have to read up on iframe support / video tearing -- thx for the heads up (still learning!). I don't plan to buy any additional reolinks, but I also don't plan to throw the one I have in the garbage, either. For the time being, it...

    Reolink?

Hi there. I've seen a lot of Reolink bashing on this site. It's justified. But, I thought I might add some detail for those wondering specifically what makes it horrible/junk/etc. This is from the perspective of someone who was/is new to the CCTV world, who has played around with the Reolink...

Can 'next alert' in timeline review factor in pre-trigger time?

I record continuously. I have alerts set based on motion triggers. In each cam's "Record" tab settings, I have X seconds of pre-trigger buffer. If I review alerts via the 'Clips' pane for individual cams, it appears to begin playing the footage at X seconds prior to the trigger's start, as...

Network category = Public I'll investigate. Since buying that machine and installing Win10, I haven't really messed with anything other than installing BI, setting up cams, and setting up Chrome Remote Desktop (CRD). On my Windows Defender Firewall settings page, it says... Incoming...

    Blue Iris UI3

Thanks, bp2008. Appreciate your help. I set a new rule (inbound) to open port 81 TCP for all network types. I restarted the PC. However, I am still getting a timeout error when attempting to navigate to 192.bla.bla.bla:81 or 192.bla.bla.bla:81/ui3.htm (unless I do so from a browser on the BI...

    Blue Iris UI3

Thanks, bp2008. I didn't realize there was a different between opening and forwarding ports -- I'm fairly new to much of this networking stuff. I don't want to hijack this thread if this is too off-topic, but I've searched for "blue iris open port" and only seem to find hits for people speaking...

    Blue Iris UI3

I hadn't yet decided on whether I was going to go the port-forwarding route or the VPS route for remote access. Partially because I simply haven't yet had a need for remote/external access. I had it in my head that the port-forwarding vs. VPN decision was only relevant to remote/external...

    Blue Iris UI3

The LAN IP address for my BI PC is 192.168.99.144:81 I *can* successfully load the page and login to both http://192.168.99.144:81 and http:/192.168.99.81/UI3.htm via browsers on my BI PC itself. I can *not* get either of these pages to load using browsers from other laptops/computers/phones...

    Blue Iris UI3

Thanks, SouthernYankee. I appreciate your reply. I connected a different desktop to my network, and the result was the same. So, it looks like this isn't a Chromebook-based issue. The root cause is likely the same reason why I couldn't get the BI Android app to work, either. I guess I'll go...

    BI "overhead" CPU usage?

Update for any future viewers of this thread with similar problems (esp. if running i5-6600 3.30GHz): I did end up rolling back by driver to version 21.20.16.4664 (4/21/2017), and this did solve my problems. My machine now runs consistently at 30% CPU usage. THANK YOU to looney2ns and others.

    Blue Iris UI3

My apology if this has been spelled out already, but I can't seem to find an easy way to search this 98-page thread... ...should BI web interface & UI3 be able to work with Chromebook's version of the Chrome browser? I can get it to work on my desktop PC browsers, but not on my Chromebook...

    BI "overhead" CPU usage?

Thanks for the comments. I'd searched around for similar problems (& solutions) previously, but looney2ns pointed some out that I hadn't come across. I plan to read through those and see if that can be helpful. If I am still struggling, perhaps I'll come back with more detailed CPU/Cam info...

    BI "overhead" CPU usage?

Thanks for the reply! To be clear, I'm not asking if the baseline "overhead" CPU usage of 25% is normal. I am asking if it is normal to have BI start at ~35% (~25% if 'inactive' and 'paused') and move up to ~80% (~65% if 'inactive' and 'paused') a day later, under the same settings &...

    BI "overhead" CPU usage?

I'm new-ish to BI, and still fine tuning. I have worked through the guide to optimizing BI, and I'm wondering if this is a common experience: If BI is freshly restarted, it runs at 30-50% CPU usage under my current settings. I'm happy with this. The following things seem to change the CPU...

    Disable auto-zoom? (alhua 4MP IPC-HFW5431E-ZE)

Thanks, fenderman. I only use BI*. All of my cams had the "Enable pan/tilt/zoom and other controls (focus, brightness, etc)" checked by default in the PTZ/Control tab of the cam's properties. I unchecked this. Hopefully that will remedy the situation.

    Disable auto-zoom? (alhua 4MP IPC-HFW5431E-ZE)

I recently purchased (through Andy) and set up a the Alhua 4MP IPC-HFW5431E-ZE. The cam is mounted above my garage and looks out over my driveway. It frequently, on its own, zooms in on the center of the picture (my empty driveway). Is there a way to disable this? If I adjust it back to 100%...

    Blue Iris Video Tutorials

Hi, I just wanted to drop a note saying how great these videos are. I have watched some and plan to watch them all as I get my BI up and running. Your work is greatly appreciated! I'm not sure if you've ever thought about it, but a "part 0" video showing what to do when a user starts up Blue...

Sweet! LTS is releasing an ONVIF compatible doorbell with SD card slot and 940nm IR

Like goofball, I have spent much time skimming through this thread as well. However, I am a total newbie to IP cams and Blue Iris, so I'm just trying to 'digest' even half of what I read. I have a Uniden doorbell cam that works in the following ways: - door chime works - Uniden app works -...

Guide for configuring new IP cam? (blue iris)

Thank you, fenderman. Update: By changing the PC's ipv4 address to 192.168.1.1, I was able to initialize and change the IP addresses of the rest of the cameras (which I did via IE browser -- would not work via dahua config tool). BI now autodetects all 5 cameras. I added them all, and 2 of...

Guide for configuring new IP cam? (blue iris)

Thanks for the reply. I truly appreciate it. "you still have to input the user and password, otherwise it won't work" The documentation that came with the camera does not say what the default password is. Online searches suggest it is admin/admin. I keep looking for a guide that covers...

Guide for configuring new IP cam? (blue iris)

I recently purchased a PC and BI -- software is up and running. I also purchased 4 dahau cams, and 1 reolink cam. I am having trouble getting BI to "see" the cameras. I have watched dozens of setup guides, but they all seem to skim over the part where you add the IP camera / assume it is...

Hello world! Thank you, and a question...

My main question was: Is it OK to have PoE cameras split across two switches, like the diagram shows (i.e., option # 1), or is there a benefit to having all PoE cameras and the PC BI NVR machine all one one switch (i.e., option #2 or #3)?

Hello world! Thank you, and a question...

Thank you to those of you who have posted guides on this site. Largely based on this site's information, I am going to have the following setup: - PC running WIN10 and BI. Comes with HDD. Purchasing a 2TB Purple HDD. Based on info here, I should plan on buying a SSD to replace the original...
