Yeah i'm on nbn satellite here. You can get a static ip for that for $5/month. But i'm using a dynamic ip updater app instead. Works fine for streaming from BI webserver even though satellite is a 600ms ping. What sort of flying are you doing? Really, they stopped you getting a proper public...

Maybe saying regular 45 degree days is incorrect! regular >40 for sure though. Out of curiosity I looked it up - last summer we had 5 days >40 degrees, with the 13th of Jan being the hottest with 43.9 degrees. This is from an official weather station. Temp readings on the verandah (not as much...

Dahua and telnet vulnerabilities specifically mentioned in this news story. http://arstechnica.com/security/2016/10/brace-yourselves-source-code-powering-potent-iot-ddoses-just-went-public/ Are firewalls and shutting off telnet access enough?

HTTP request to Cause an Alert

http://192.168.1.100:81/admin?camera=Cam1&trigger&user=user&pw=password where it says &user=user try changing "user" to the actual username you use to log in. Ditto with &pw=password, change "password" to the real password. Just a guess.

You mean the star picket? If so thats an attempt to create a good ground for the tower in case of lightning. Its connected to the "frame ground" of the switch. I'm not an electrician, so i'm not sure how effective it would be. We're on a farm here

Hmm cheers for the insight gmaster, Yeah i'm getting rid of that old netgear. Will have to do some research and get something more suitable (I may ask you for recommendations on this), i've seen mention of mitrotik/routerboard/netonix or davado gear, and my old work had some built for field 3g...

gmaster, haha, think you called it mate, looks like I should have done my homework. Last night the system cut out at 1130pm. What is your latitude? Brad, Seems I remembered wrong. My low voltage disconnect was set to 11.5V. After doing some reading I decided to bump this up to 12.2. I've also...

Thanks, The RPI just runs a little python script at reboot/every minute that checks if the on-board temperature is >45 degrees C and turns on the relay, which is connected to a 12V computer fan. Obviously the on-board temp is going to be much higher than outside temp, but i'd like to keep this...

Yeah thats what I was thinking. I have heard mixed things about it though. Physical reliability of the propellers or generator and wind availability itself is a bit iffy. Planning on chucking wind/water meters on it tho which hook into the pi. Actually yeah, I should have just used an old...

Well i'm not 100% sure yet. The battery was discharged when i first put this up, and we've only had overcast days since then. So with that in mind, the charge controller cut power at 430am and reconnected at 830am when the battery was recharged enough. It was fairly sunny today and i checked...

Thanks man, This tower is only 1km from the AP. 2MP 1080p dahua, and 4MP dahua cams run fine on it. 10ms ping, 60mbit connection with the cheap litebeam - could be aimed a bit better.

Hey all, Have a look, questions/criticisms welcome. Still some work to do. The worst thing about this site is having to sign in to see thumbnails! This is my next box. Using an old switch I have lying around and an existing 3g modem. Is a work in progress.

Finally got my my Dahua PTZ mounted

Hey I have the sd-59230s-hn (probably the same camera). I think your focus is off too, Try zooming in on something during the day time, opening the web browser, going to Camera - Conditions - Zoom, and press the "Lens init" button. Sharpens my image up nicely. I didn't use to have to do this...

Control PTZ Presets with another Cameras Trigger

I know this part of the problem has already been solved, but can't you just (on the trigger tab) use re-trigger camera groups? Add a unique group to your PTZ cam On the camera which gets triggered, goto trigger tab, set re-trigger camera group Goto PTZ trigger tab, set the PTZ to goto a preset...

dahua alarm input triggering blue iris alerts

I've been able to successfully do this with hikvision cams by basically following this guide: http://www.petermcannell.com/using-ip-camera-based-pir-sensor-within-blueiris/ However in my case i'm using beam sensors - but its still all good. I picked up a DH-IPC-HDBW4421R-AS 3.6mm dome (for the...

Blue Iris as a windows service - no signal on cams

When trying to run BI as a service, I get no live signal on any of my cams. I can however start BI, or, log in via the mobile app and view previously recorded clips/alerts. I also seem to get live streaming audio via BI on the PC. Turning the service off and restarting BI - all cams are...

    Possible to setup remote monitor

I'd like to do this as well. Couple of questions. Running BI on Android stick. I suppose you normally use a BT mouse paired with the stick to control the app? Say that's too hard for some people - does the camera cycle in the Android BI app prefer/loiter on cameras which are experiencing...

lol @ fendermart Running an oldish alienware laptop with i7 3610QM (2.3/3.3GHz), intel HD graphics 4000 (and an obviously unused nvidia GT650m - uses "optimus" technology which means it only kicks in when an application tries to use it anyway). Running six 1080p cameras at 20 - 25fps. Before...
