    Thieves took my DVR!

Less likely as cameras actually cannot be seen from the front of the house. Back of the house has garden and trees etc then into a reserve. I don't know though.

    Thieves took my DVR!

Yes. Once they were inside the garage, the hinge pins were accessible to the door leading into the house. Is this standard design? Previously that very door was broken from the inside during another robbery; hence 3 deadlocks.

    Thieves took my DVR!

There was a quick smash and grab robbery wanting to take the Toyota about 3 years ago. Since then 3 deadlocks on the door. That didn't matter as this door was removed from the hinge while all deadlocks intact. I didn't know that it was that easy. Not the most clever design but will be rectified...

btw thanks everyone for commenting and taking an interest. I have a few ideas that I will implement. Hopefully never to be tested but who knows.

Other idea is for the home alarm to cause all house lights to go on and off like a strobe. :) Disco time.

    Thieves took my DVR!

This is rectified now. Embarassing blunder that will forever punish me. Thanks. This is the most unusual idea that I heard so far. Before you know it, the house will catch on fire due to multiple LARGE batteries constantly charging everywhere..... kidding of course. Thank you.

    Thieves took my DVR!

Possible. Unless they put a flexble camera below the door to inspect it from the outside. I dunno. Possible. Will investigate. Thank you.

    Thieves took my DVR!

They removed backfence panels and walked in. There were security lights but power was disconnected from the front where there were no security lights (ie quite dark). They moved all turrent cameras upwards but didn't damage them. A surdy steel security screen door was jimmied easily from a...

    Thieves took my DVR!

Definitely not high end. Very typical house. Toyota car. It is unusual I agree. I haven't detailed how they got in but can if people are interested. It's not relevant for this forum though.

I know most of you are in the USA. Do you have power distribution boxes on the external aspect of the house that can be freely accessed by anyone? One other thought was whether I could install a large battery for the whole house to store solar power. I don't know whether this may help or not.

    Thieves took my DVR!

Point taken. I will consider that one. Easily done. I agree. This almost looks like a practice run for some other job they are doing? They broke in a took the evidence that recorded that they broke in. Total loss is only about $1000 maximum assuming 'as new' price.

    Thieves took my DVR!

Thanks. Not the worst idea by far. They didn't take the ancient DVD player.....

    Thieves took my DVR!

Point taken. I will consider disguising the recording device as well as a decoy.

    Thieves took my DVR!

It is possible that they knew. They took ALL computers in the house. Even an ancient one. They left all monitors etc behind.

    Thieves took my DVR!

This is moot. They looked EVERYWHERE. Even the roof cavity. Even some of the jars in my kitchen were opened. I am convinced that they tried on all my underwear while at it. Point about SD card taken and will be implemented as soon as possible. Thanks.

    Thieves took my DVR!

I got recently broken into while not at home. Power was cut and alarm was bypassed as my alarm backup battery had expired! They took my NVR so makes the cameras not that useful. I did not have cloud backup. Could I trouble the brain trust for a backup solution to the cloud assuming that I...

    Pandemic threat? Anyone else concerned?

How's the feeling in USA? You guys panicking yet or even testing much? In Australia, we are starting to panic a little. Your Trumpet talking about the hydroxychloroquine has caused an outage. Is there any optimism at all?

    Pandemic threat? Anyone else concerned?

Agree. I go straight to the experts when it comes to any issue. Also go back to the original source of news etc. WHO website is a good one when it comes to public health emergencies. To a degree that's why I came here in the first place; to get some expert/less biased advice on IP cameras.

    Pandemic threat? Anyone else concerned?

That would be 95% on this forum and 99.5% of the general population, almost 99.9% of the internet. ;) Most people have no idea of what expertise means let alone interpret stats and understand biology etc.

    Pandemic threat? Anyone else concerned?

@mat200 , I saw those numbers. I have a friend who is a public health physician (he was the chief medical officer in our state a few years ago) so I get a briefing regularly. If you look in the WHO website, he did the video intro to Corona virus. ;)

    Pandemic threat? Anyone else concerned?

In the original vector yes. In humans, hopefully we can vaccinate against it. I am hoping the fear will give us the courage to find a good vaccine for general corona viruses, which would be very useful. Fear is the only stick that works to get things done.

    Pandemic threat? Anyone else concerned?

Looks like human to human transmission rates are lowish. Needs about 15 minutes of contact for it to pass on. I am positive about reasonable containment outside of China.
