    Backseat cameras for watching kids

It's not wathng them as such, it's flicking the eyes down for less than 1 second to check them. The same way you do when you look in the rear view mirror, or look down at the speedo.

    Backseat cameras for watching kids

It's not for the fun of it, rather knowing what they are up to. I pick up my son from Day care an it's a 15 minute drive home and it's his nap time when he gets home, most of the time he falls asleep by himself. It's a real pain to get him to sleep at home and can take 30 minutes, so I want to...

    Backseat cameras for watching kids

Not 100% dashcam, but sort of related... Has anyone got any clever ideas for a back seat camera for watching kids while in the car, especially when they are rear facing and you can't see them. I was thinking of all sorts of elaborate Raspberry Pi installs, but ultimately want something robust...

    Dahua Audio Problems

Yep, changing the audio to MJPEG and removing the noise filter. The noise filer seems to make it sound like the mic is in a tin can.

This is the first time it has been during the day time and the music is usually during the night. The music is so loud I can't hear my TV, sleep, or even have a conversation. If you read what i wrote I was resonable and spoke to them at first and they became dicks about it. Dutchlincoln, how...

    Local Council Trimming Trees

It looks a little like when you first get a haircut and you have the odd hair sticking out... I'm assuming they knew what they were doing and that it will grow in a but better as they had a whole lot of guys up there and they were discussing anything before they cut.

You Tube Live Stream of Cams

Is anyone streaming a cam to YouTube Live Stream as a method of remote viewing? I'm interested to see what people are doing.

Here's another example of the audio. A bit of background first. The reason we put the cameras in was because we have idiot neighbours who play their stereo at unreasonable levels. I talked to them one day and asked them to turn it down and they turned it up louder. So we started calling Noise...

The same rules apply for conversaions, but it is illegal to intercept communications - ie phone calls etc... Interestingly in NZ we have the Search and Surveillance act which gives the police the right to recovery any recording or photograph from any person at any time without warrant. I've had...

New Zealand law allows filming in public places unless the person has the right to believe they have privacy. The police give the following advice: It is generally lawful to take photographs of people in public places without their consent. However, you must not film or take photos of people if...

A daytime audio sample of some kids walking by. There seems to be a high pitched noise present that is only there when I upload to YouTube.

I've managed to sort out the audio options by turning off the noise reduction and changing the encoding to MPEG2. Here's a small sample - not much happening outside today so it's not that interesting. Will clip something better and provide some better samples.

    Dahua Audio Problems

So I've got it sorted after a lot of mucking around. I had it plugged into my NVR POE built in switch so couldn't access the audio settings, and when I put it on the regular POE switch network it kept it's 10.1.1.x address from the NVR. It seems to have no reset button to I had to change my...

I need to change the title of this thread seeing the model number of the cam has changed to IPC-HDW4431C-A - can I do this or do I need an admin to do it?

Here's a quick night vision that I've taken. I'm still not sure about the audio problem being wind. It's completely still, and there is a lot of noise with the audio of the neighbours car. It stops as soon as the car stops. I've either got a dodgy mic or I need a firmware upgrade.

Cam arrived today. It's an IPC-HDW4431C-A. I've done the install - here's a small sample I took for another thread on here. It's quite windy so the audio is terrible. Will post some better samples when I have something worth putting up, but so far pretty happy although a little disappointed with...

    Dahua Audio Problems

Thanks Fenderman. I thought it would be normal. I'm assuming that the crackling is coming because the wind is maxing out the mic?

    Dahua Audio Problems

I've just installed my first Dahua with Audio and I'm less than impressed. It's so bad I think there's something wrong with it. The first problem is that even the slightest gust of wind gives a lot of mic noise. The second problem is there's a lot of static noise if it picks up any sound. Is...

Using a camera to monitor temperature.

A Raspberry Pi would be great for this. A simple Python script could monitor a $2 temp probe and notify you when the temperature dropped. It would also be simple to log the temperature so you could see if there were any changes during the night.

Anyone heard of "Shodan" to view other people's cams?

I had a look and was a bit shocked at what people have exposed. I found a lot of nanny cams, cams in bedrooms etc... Often they are wifi cams and you can see the wifi passwords. I found a local cafe, and all I'd need to do it pop down there and I could be on their network. I found one guy who...

Camera Siting Problem- I'm looking for how to deal with a bright light.

Definitely looks like the IR isn't on. I have some that look in the direction of street lights and it makes little different to the camera. If you look at the camera can you see the LEDs lit up?

    Newbie Question

What distance from the cameras are you trying to record? If you have line of sight you could look at a wireless system up to 20 kilometres away. I'm lucky in my city we have gigabit speed and in theory get 1000 megabit down and 500 up (actual speeds are about 900 and 450).
