    Dismal Convert/Export performance

Good idea indeed. In my case I am trying to motivate introduction of traffic-calming measures, on the race-track that is outside my house. We have had one death in the street already, and it is going to happen again before long.

    Dismal Convert/Export performance

I do direct-to-disc and no - to be honest I do not see any difference when I play them both side by side. They look pretty much identical. On the re-encode I have had files as big as 56GB - nightmare to work with...I wish i had posted this earlier in my journey...Gratitude for your advice!

    Dismal Convert/Export performance

Holy smoke...from forever to mere seconds...but why is the file a quarter of the size? for example with re-encode its 12GB and without its 3.7GB?

How will that affect quality? Will I still be able to import them into Magix Video Pro X? The files are to be brought into the editor for a presentation to Law Enforcement

    Dismal Convert/Export performance

I have a pretty decent setup, but trying to export a large quantity of clips, and it is taking forever! I have tried to export stock, and using the iGPU and NVIDIA options (GeForce GTX 1650 Super), but they offer no improvement. The (direct-to-disk) source is of course fixed - an 18TB Seagate...

Complete export of all recordings possible?

Greetings, does anyone know if its possible to export all existing clips, sitting in the "Move to folder," to an external drive? Ideally it would name each clip by cam and date-time.

Clips suddenly stopped appearing in the clips-list?

No I turned auto-update off when I realised it was causing issues about a month back. It was actually you who recommended that in another thread I posted on about the DB repair. And no I did not install BI on a "dirty machine. Again on the advice of yourself I built a new clean high-end system...

Clips suddenly stopped appearing in the clips-list?

Someone wise once said something about assumptions. I am not talking about the obvious. I have 2TB of high-speed primary NVMe drive that offloads to 18TB of available FIFO space. And it is 90% used at any time. No I am talking about this morning for example, when I opened BI and it had a...

Clips suddenly stopped appearing in the clips-list?

Well the thing is - sarcasm aside - I personally would rather have at least some kind of recording, when really needed, than nothing. You see it is not uncommon to open BI for evidence and find a cryptic message and no recordings at all. I do use the free Synology "Surveillance Station" for a...

Clips suddenly stopped appearing in the clips-list?

Actually i have a HikVision NVR - and it is horrible. The noise is insane (residential issue) and it is clunky at best. I am looking at the Synology DVA1622 NVR to be honest, and might pull the trigger on that in the new year, after bonus-payout.

Gratitude for your help, the repair worked - updates are firmly OFF now!

Clips suddenly stopped appearing in the clips-list?

Well no - I did not, but it may have. Though my system is set to "critical and highly stable updates only" I noticed it was not running as I had left it earlier today. I had to launch it again. SO I guess this is what happened. I am really trying to like BI5 but struggling to remain calm....

Clips suddenly stopped appearing in the clips-list?

from this morning there are no more recordings for my 12 cameras in the BI-app list. I can see recordings in the web-interface so I know it is working but go into the server, open BI and nothing new. Tried all-clips, new etc. Nothing. And nothing changed, to the best of my knowledge anyways. I...

    2.8mm or 4mm help me

Actually no - the particular model the OP refers to is a disaster in the focus department. I have two of them, both exhibiting the same focus-hunting when you try to zoom them in. They work great when zoomed all the way out - but that obviously defeats the purpose of buying one of these in the...

    Cannot achieve smooth recordings

@SouthernYankee wins this one - removed the link to router for the whole-home, and connected it directly to the Cisco PoE switch, which in turn I connected to the router, for internet. Instant zero-lag solution - gratitude! Every camera is now buttery-smooth.

    Cannot achieve smooth recordings

Thank you all for the suggestions! Yes the POE switch does go through my router - albeit a high-end SonicWall NSA-series. This weekend I will test the suggestions of removing the RAID and re-organising my switch-infrastructure and not using HW Decode. I have 10GBe capability and so will use that...

    Cannot achieve smooth recordings

I have 12 HikViison Cameras of varying types and all exhibit the same symptom in BI - they pause every few seconds. You can both observe it in real-time and in recordings. And the system is no slouch - idling at sub 5% most of the time. I am trying to get smooth recordings so i can calculate the...

NO Signal: Error: 80002af9 (Failed to connect)

Hi @wittaj thanks for your quick response. I do have access to all three. I poked around and see no way to export one camera's settings. I assume you mean disable all the other cameras and then export BI? I am nervous to try this as this is what i did for me "new" server - I exported from BI4...

NO Signal: Error: 80002af9 (Failed to connect)

I have searched the forums and indeed the internet to try and resolve this error to no avail. I have three BI servers - an old v4 rock-solid and a new migrated BI5 that is dodgy and a newer fresh-from-scratch BI5. Both the old and new servers have no problem seeing the HikVision as either ONVIF...

Speeder Detection with LPR and RADAR (technical posts only!!)

Greetings - an old thread but fascinating...did you ever get the Vidar set up and if so - does it work well? I am seeking a solution to calm the insane residential-traffic problem I have in my street.

    4.8.2.2 - October 10, 2018

4.8.2.3 has been good to me too! Low CPU numbers, stable. 5 x 3 /4 MP cams on Core i7-6700 windows server 2008r2 Actually I do each and every update when prompted and never saw the 100% cpu issue

HikVision NVR: Newly added user cannot view newly added cams

An odd one. I added a user to a DS-7732NI-I4 (V3.4.90 build 160926) and then I added a camera, the 18th. The user is able to view the 17 cameras that existed at the time I created his account but cannot view the 18th camera I added - gets "Live View Failed" from a small pop-up lower-right...

New Version 4.4.5.2 eating memory rapidly

I did the incremental upgrade to 4.4.5.2 yesterday and this morning discovered for the first time EVER BI crashed. Digging into the Event Logs I discovered it was memory related - there was no more memory. I restarted BI and watched it eating up the memory in front of my eyes, all the way up the...

    HW decoding and supported CPUs

Thank you fenderman and bp2008. This may explain why my current setup maxes out the CPU on my Proliant - not only is it a VM but the Xeon CPU does not have graphics anyway (though I suspect one could pass the the adapter, if it was there, to the VM with Directed VT-d or somesuch). Where can I...
