33 camera recommendation

I have a BI system running 26 cameras i7-6700k and it is running at 85% everything direct to disk. Now I need to build a system for 33 cameras. Any ideas?

26 @ 85% is very high. You could bring that down drastically. I have 41 running at 50-60%.

all 1080, 20 running at 10fps, 21 running at 7fps, will likely bring most to 7fps just because there is very little difference in motion, but big difference in cpu.

How much memory you have in that machine? You aren't seeing high degree of swapping?

16gigs ram, no swapping, no issues whatsoever.

All cameras are running at 15fps I have 23 2.1mp hikvision running at 1080 and 3 4mp running at 2688x1520
I have 8 gb memory
Are you talking about hardware acceleration in BI or in the Bios ?
Is there any way to change common settings on all the cameras at once?

blue iris options, cameras hardware acceleration NO VPP...this requires intel hd with quicksync

I assume the i7 6700k has Intel HD with quicksync

vpp is video post processing. It can also reduce CPU usage but only with a small number of cameras. More than a few, and it makes things worse.

Hardware acceleration enable/disable affects all cameras by default, assuming you set it from the Blue Iris Options > cameras tab.

Yes, i7-6700k has quick sync.

I turned on hardware accerleration andit dropped down to 71% which is interesting because on another BI server I have a i7 4790k with only 2 less cameras -24 - and it runs at 44%

the number of cameras is meaningless...its the total fps and resolution...

This seemed like as good a thread as any to compare setups and ask a question at the same time. I am currently running an Intel i7-6950x with 128GB of Ram and 26 cameras (15 running at 2MP 20FPs and the other 11 running at 4MP 20 FPS) all set to direct to disc. On average my CPU usage runs at about 58% which I am very happy about. But I am about to add another dozen or so cameras and want to get an opinion from this group. Am I correct in assuming that in addition to overall FPS and Resolution (Per Fenderman), that the greater the number of cores on the CPU, the better? I could be wrong, but when I upgraded last year to these "Extreme" line of processors, I was very surprised at how easily it handled the load. I was pushing 99% almost the whole time before upgrading, and the old hardware was not really that old (maybe one generation ago). If in fact the number of cores plays a substantial role, then I feel like I have a good upgrade path for the future as the new (and very crazy) line of Intel processors is pushing 18 cores with 36 threads. Feels like I should have enough headroom when I decide to add these new cameras.

Any thoughts, feedback, push back on this is welcomed!

Honestly I'm surprised you can run that much on your CPU. That is 1480 MP/s if my calculations are correct. Without the benefit of hardware acceleration. And you are running Blue Iris?

Yes of course....been one of the faithful for several years! Actually, I need to correct above statement as I looked at the "Status Window" inside of Blue Iris and got the exact numbers: I have 13 at 2MP 10 at 3MP and 3 at 4MP. Most cameras are at 20 FPS (12 of them are at 30).

update....took a screenshot and thought I would share with you all:
