4G with CCTV

Anybody using 4G with CCTV - cant get a static IP off my vendor- any alternatives?

Yes using 4G with a Hikvision 7608 & 7832 with Hikvision cameras worth fine, but on ivms 4500 dont set all the streams to clear as that slows it down greatly, using hikvisions own dns because of the dynamic dns issue all good.

i thought port forwarding and a static ip was needed- how did you get around this ?

would it work without the dvr- lets say you needed to access the camera's over the 4G without DVR

yes i would like to connect my camera's to a 4g router

Thats fine using a 4G router, but I'd watch the data limits of your ISP
Remember you would have to use a true router not just a usb stick maybe something like a Huawei B593s-22 LTE/4G. I use these for my temporary site installations, on a Hikvision 7108n/sn/p you just setup the port forwarding on the router and Hikdns service and your away.

The issue is that many 4g carriers do not provide a routable external ip address...at least here in the us..

Get you, we don't have that problem in the UK, all device are routable (trackball) IP address here, but then the UK is the most watch country on the planet . Lol
