Hi guys,

I know many of you guys use Blue Iris software to record the cameras you guys buy but I wanted to know if anyone had any recommendations for a 8CH NVR that has built-in PoE that works well with the longse cameras? I'm looking to use the 2MP (LIRDLSL200 (IMX291 + Hi3516D) with the system.

I saw some threads about some budget cameras (Cantonek, Longse, etc) and it looks like something I could use to save some cash. I saw a few budget NVRs such as the one Nelly sells (8CH, no poe) for about $70. The only thing is that I need to get a PoE switch for 8, which bumps the price up, it sounds like it's cheaper to get it built-in at that point.

I also looked at Aliexpress and they had an 8CH with PoE for about $135 shipped. (http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Surv..._7&btsid=d7f2dc06-7a59-4184-a644-414659854b30)

I just need the NVR to allow motion recording and internet viewing via IOS/Android. I wanted to see if any of you guys had any experience with these units or can recommend one?

Don't have any experience, but if you do get Longse/Cantonk NVR I would be interested in your review as I was considering them as well

Do you have a price list for it? I saw the IP camera price list floating here in the forums but nothing about NVRs. I want to buy one to sample to test it out. I already emailed their North American/Sales at longse but haven't heard back, since I just sent it to them a few hours ago, and it's Saturday over there.

If anyone has their NVR price list, can they send it to me? I'm curious to see how much it is, since their cameras are dirt cheap, why not just get everything from them.

I came one hair from ordering one from Cantonk when I got my 2 speed domes. Kind of wish I had now just to play with.

I think you've dodged a bullet.

I'm going to get Longse or equivalent and find a compatible NVR from somewhere for my sister's new house (yes I'm fed up with Hikvision). Will post results on here. If it's crap then I'll go back to Dahua.

Are you saying that the longse NVRs just blows? I haven't see really anyone get one to try out and I'm curious about how much it is vs other ones offered on aliexpress or through Nelly.

I was just pondering a Hik NVR so why do they suck ? I have all Hik cameras and adding a Imporx and Dahua right away what do you think will run them all and is the best choice if not a HIk ? sorry for a bit of hijack

I have their 2mp and 5mp ip camera. day time very good. night time very clear. but the WDR not that good.

Here is a demo page for Cantonk. http://www.cantonk.com/Page/?id=30

There is a demo for cams and NVR, I can't vouch for reliability, there are a few reviews of cams on the forum. So far the cams I have gotten are working well.

YMMV

How long have you used the cameras for?

Are you using them with Blue Iris?

If you have Hikvision cameras then Hikvision NVR is best (this is my current personal setup) and adding Huisun/Imporx isn't too much hassle unless you are complete newb. Adding Dahua isn't as easy but you can get it to work.

I'm planning on moving away from Hikvision cameras for future installs (family and friends, not professional!), so I won't use their NVR with other cameras. I personally think Dahua NVR better for compatibility than Hikvision.

They don't make it (I'm 90% sure) and I've played with a similar one (possibly same). It works but it's not magic. It's worse than Hikvision and Dahua NVR, so I would use Dahua NVR and pay the extra £30 / $50 myself.

So what did Hik do that passes you off so much ? Are they not reliable or just buggy or ? I am a BI guy but think as cameras are progressing then a dedicated NVR will be best option rather than third party software.

You going Dahua camera route ? I am thinking waiting a bit and trying the big black face but 800 pushing the toy threshold with the wife. Will need to sell a power toy to please her lol.
