Hi,

I have Amcrest IP2M-841W's ... I'm using Safari on a 2017 iMac 27" and this is what I see:

I have followed the insructions and installed the Pulgin but 1. I can't see that its installed into the broswer, and 2. Installing it has made no difference at all.

Amcrest Customer Service only suggested to install the latest firmware, which it has, and that was about all they suggested.

Has someone else here had this issue and resolved it?

Thank you very much for any help or suggestions.

Browser viewing via plugin is not recommended.
It has many problems, and most plugins are either not supported and disabled or will be soon.

I'd recommend you try with Amcrest Surveillance Pro software
Amcrest Surveillance Pro for Mac
User Manual

Or maybe even better, Dahua Smart PSS (Dahua is original manufacturer of your camera, for Amcrest). I've tried Windows version, and it works great with the same camera Amcrest for me.

Smart PSS is newer version, maybe it would work for you.

If you really need to use it in Safari browser, have you checked if plugin is disabled in browser and whether it can be manually enabled?
See below:
How do I enable a plugin in Safari?
Manage plug-ins in Safari
Choose Safari > Preferences.
  1. Click Security.
  2. Click Website Settings next to Allow Plug-Ins.
  3. Select the plug-in from the list on the left (typically Adobe Flash Player will have the most settings)....

Thank you so much. Problem solved. Its working really well.

However, the video feed is in black and white. I'll try to figure it out but if you know how to change it back to color that would be very helpful.

Thank you very much. I hope others who are experiencing difficulties find this post.

Ok, glad to help.
Can you please elaborate which of the recommended steps solved your problem? Desktop application or enabling the plugin for Safari browser?

The camera is by default set to change view to black and white and turn bulit-in IR LED lights on in low light environment.
I think that may be the culprit. So first check lighting conditions, if there is enough light available, turn on additional lights to see if it reverts to colour mode. If not check if it's set to night mode or something along those lines. There are 2 most relevant settings under Camera->Configuration options. Those are 'Day & Night' and 'Night Vision' sub-menus. Sensitivity for switching to IR/Night mode can also be adjusted.

Okay, sorry about the vagueness of my reply.

This solved my issue:

"I'd recommend you try with Amcrest Surveillance Pro software

Also, it's late at night here in Australia so it's most likely the settings you've pointed out that is causing the black and white. I actually switched off all the lights to test the night vision, I have to say I'm really impressed with its night vision. Excellent and affordable IP cameras.

Thank you for the update.
No need to apologize. I asked because it's always better to know what helped and what didn't. And for others that may need help and ask the same questions.

Glad I could help.

Hello,

I am new here on the forums but also wanted to inform anyone who may still want to use the web UI of the following.

As of August 2019, Amcrest has brought out new firmware that will address the plugin issue for several models including the IP2M-841 V1 and V2. Google Chrome would be the most recommended browser with the new firmware.
