AMD Versus Intel

You do not seem to understand that 8700 is different than 8700k.

But anyway 8700k vs 1800x, difference around 10USD, so what are we talking here about?

Intel: System Builder - Core i7-8700K 3.7GHz 6-Core - PCPartPicker
AMD: System Builder - Ryzen 7 1800X 3.6GHz 8-Core, GeForce GT 710 1GB - PCPartPicker
I can see we won't agree on this either. pcpartpicker doesn't always pick the cheapest price. The face that I linked you a cheaper Ryzen cpu, and you picked one that costs $60.00 more... *sigh*

Bottom line, like I've said before: Using bp2008's workload it is cheaper to build and operate a ryzen system than it is to build and operate an 8700k system.

And the Ryzen 1800x is cheaper than a 8700 too.

Lots of folks inquire about building a dedicated BI system. People like me and many others prefer to build rather than buy. I built my own computer for BI for instance. We both agree that you can buy a computer that will run BI far cheaper than you can build one. I'm pretty sure we can both agree that if one built a computer and his choices were a 8700k and Ryzen using bp2008s workload, the cheaper route is Ryzen.
absolutely no reason to build unless you want to pay several hundred dollars more for the privilege...additionally as i noted, the 8700k is much more powerful than the ryzen when it comes to bi, so you can BUILD with a cheaper intel processor than the 8700k

BI being the only thing on people's boxes is a bad assumption IMO. Especially with how popular things like plex are nowadays. you guys are talking past each other.
