I got the camera powered up. Dahua DH-SD6ALA230FN-HNI. Seems nobody ever connected any of the molex connections inside this one. There was also a ribbon cable taped down inside, not connected to anything (does anyone know what it is for? I didn’t see a place for either end in any boards). So, I connected molexes, put 24v to it, and startup began. My heart raced! Did I accomplish some great feat? I connected to a laptop, changed laptop ip to near same as camera default, old admin password worked, downloaded toolbox & got config tool. It saw the camera, but it was initialized. I can click on it, even change the IP address because the password hasn’t been changed, but I cannot view. Sometimes if the on-screen buttons allow, I can restart and more button options come up, sometimes less. I am connected directly to the camera through Ethernet cable to laptop, not going through home network, basically to test that the camera works before I take it to our office to mount. Any and all advise is greatly appreciated!!

This camera is way out of the price range of most all the people on this forum. I would contact the people you got it from.

Have you tried to access the camera with internet explorer ?

I have. IE was the same as with the PSS, I could access with IP and log in with default, but same message about resource limited, video failed where he media would be. I bought it from someone on eBay who said they had “no power supply, so they couldn’t test it”. It wouldn’t have worked for them anyway, since all of the molex connectors were never connected. The inside of the dome and he camera parts looked super clean and untouched.
The other camera I got (DH-SD6C230U-HNI), that had a previous password...I tried to open it up to find pins to cross to reset, and the 6-conductor molex disintegrated in my hand. I have no idea what the pin-out is and the wires are (1) black, (1) red, (2) blues, and (2) yellows. No one was able to help me with that debacle, so I bought the present one. (I was hoping the newer one would have those same wires, but they were all black. Ugh!!!). So I’m stuck with 2 kind of high dollar cameras that I still can’t use. There are no businesses in this area that knows ANYTHING about cameras except selling them and maybe installing them.

I really want these cameras to work. Thieves got on the roof of our family business trying to steal copper from AC units and did $30k in damage! Our little cheap Revo system could see anything worthy of any kind of identification of the thieves, nor their vehicles.

First consider an alarm on the unit, there are many sensors/kits designed for AC that integrate with they buildings alarm systems.
Second, consider a video monitoring service like Remote Video Surveillance Monitoring - CCTV Security Cameras - Florida run by member @bababouy
Cameras are nice but if you cant monitor them 24/7 it wont work

Our new AC units have alarms and iron cages were built around them. The insurance adjuster was extremely helpful with the claim. The system is automated and calls my father-in-law and another employee when anything goes wrong and the crappy camera system sends email notifications. Those cameras record 24/7, inside and outside, but the resolution is horrible, but yeah, the only monitoring is when my wife is looking at the dvr monitor or if she/any admin gets a message, then remote views from our phones.

My issue is getting these Dahua’s up and running. I’d really like one on our house, but the wife won’t let me. I told her I would even paint the outside can to camouflage it with our brick exterior like an optical illusion, but she wouldn’t go for it. Currently, the house has Dahau IP bullet cams on a Q-See NVR.

If you have the resources, have you thought about BI and some Starlight cams?

Hello?, the DH-SD6ALA230FN-HNI and DH-SD6C230U-HNI are Starlight cameras. I haven’t been able to get either to work right. That was totally my plan, if I got them to work.

What I'm saying is, you've been spinning your wheels with buying this stuff off of Ebay which we never recommend. While it might of seemed cost effective at the time its has ended up not being so. So since nobody here has responded about your internal wiring issue its probably because they can't so you might have to chuck it up to a learning experience and grab some from Andy.

Gotcha! The funny/sad part is yes, I had the resources at the time, when I was purchasing cameras, several months ago, right now is a definite no. I have zero disposable cash. We’ll bounce back in a few months. My other projects and honey-do’s are done and I am just now able to start back on the cameras, and the guitar I was building before my reins got pulled. I built the wife the sliding barn door she wanted, fixed all of our plumbing issues, built the computers she and the kid just had to have, now it’s time to get back to tinkering with electronics in what little spare time I have. I’m in no way a pro at this stuff, I just tinker on my down time at my fire station. I do phone systems and network stuff for her on most of my off days from the FD.

This forum is why I went with the Q-See & Dahua stuff for my house years ago. I’ve been pretty satisfied with them. Had to replace the fan twice in the NVR and added harddrives, but it’s still going strong. I liked being able to have a couple at our office on its network show up on my home network!

Several years ago, I put 900mhz cameras, powered by batteries and solar panels, at the entrance of our subdivision with Yagi antennas to a dvr in our house, so we could get tag #’s of comings and goings. We had signs posted so we’d be legal, but a lawyer in the subdivision convinced me to take them out because of a couple in the neighborhood got divorced, I could lose my equipment as evidence of someone “stepping out”

Gotcha, I just don't know if anyone here will be able to help you at that level without you sending them the equipment to evaluate.

That lawyer is full of crap. As long as you legally have it as part of the community residence program in writing and that footage is only to be supplied to law enforcement for evidence of a committed crime, and specifically list the only crimes video footage can be used for then you are fine. Maybe said lawyer didn't want anything to incriminate themselves.

EF3BF2A6-91BF-4EC8-9231-2B690F80FD4B.png I get what you mean. Nobody in town was able to help me with the pin-out issue of my 1st camera. So, it just sits waiting for me to do something with it. Seriously, the molex just crumbled when I was connecting it and the wires didn’t lay out in any manner that could be considered straight. So not only did I have a password to try to get rid of, I had 8 wires that i still don’t know what to do with. I think that happened in Feb.

We’re a thrifty family. My in laws live in the same subdivision and f-i-l wanted us to put L.o.S. antennas on our houses with T-1 to save $ on our internet use! But our hoa says only small tv dishes are allowed.
    Rules, who needs ‘em!

Yep, the other camera’s wires were all black and nobody has a tear-down of it. Bummer.

If you have an upstairs window and they have an upstairs window, you can mount them in the windows.

The closest thing I have that faces them is a decorative copper vent in the front of my house. The only line of sight would have to be higher up on a pole. It’s sad, because I’ve installed them at plenty of businesses and can’t at my own house. I was one of those goofs who made cantennas before paying for my own high-speed!

Sorry for the delay, we just had a small kitchen fire to put out at some dummy’s house. It’s never a good idea to take a nap with food on the stove.

Yeah those LOS antenna systems are sweet I'm waiting for the time that I need to install some ubiquiti nano stations. I've been thinking of buying a pair just to learn how to set them up.

I’ve only used Black Box & Cisco ones in the field and I have Engenius bridges in my house.
