So this has my interest heightened.

Seems like I should be able to run one or more of the PFR4K-E50 or PFR4K-E120 and a capable PTZs and I should be able to have a pretty nice setup.

I know one of the knocks aginst PTZs is that you probably aren't there to control it, or that it focuses on the wrong thing when set to auto track. I was wondering if the addition of radar would make PTZs more effective.

Andy, do you have any experience with these yet ?

@bigredfish

do you have a PTZ with the fast focus ? I don't know what andys price will be but i'm seeing the radar units listed between 500 and 800 USD. but they are so new IDK what to expect.

Does anyone know if they are legal to operate and where?

Operating Frequency24.05–24.25 GHz
Transmission Power<20dBm (100mW)

you should verify in your specif locale if you are going to run em, but in most places you should be below the legal limits based on my googling.

there are other consumer devices that operate in this same frequency with similar power output that don't require a license to operate in the united states AFAIK.

example: Garmin VARIA (bicycle mounted radar)

I thought these were for setting up speed traps, :facepalm:

They are part 15 FCC certified, so absolutely.
Looks cool, but not useful for "speed trap"
