According to the video in Post #18, that SD card is not recommended for the Viofo cams.

Just to help everyone out, this is from their website on what they recommend!!

Looks like the only difference between the max and the extreme is the write speed. The operating temperatures are the same. I guess I'll go with the more expensive one later on and wait for it to go on sale since I am in no hurry.

No, biggest difference is TBW - TerraBytes Written supported under manufacturer guaranty..
San Disk Max Endurance and Samsung Pro Endurance are using older 2-bit per cell flash memories, which are more expensive and support slower write speed but guarantee much longer life in 24/7 writing environment..

Yea, I see that now. I certainly don't need a 13 year life, when I only keep a car for about 3 years. That would probably out live the dashcam by at least 10X, since you are not recording all the time.

Any thoughts on the A119 mini 2? On sale now for $86. I know it's a little older 2K vs 4K -- there's a lot of talk about chasing megapixels on this forum, doesn't the same apply here?
From everything I've seen the A119 Mini 2 is a solid dash cam, probably the best value out there.
The 229 Pro, has a higher resolution sensor that's also larger (1/1.8") IMX678. In this case the extra resolution is valuable and increases the amount of detail on things like license plates. You also get a rear cam with the 229 Pro.
Is it worth the price difference? That's up to you. The Mini 2 is certainly tempting.

I agree the Mini 2 is very tempting! I live in a fairly large city and I have almost been rear ended so many times! It would be my luck I would end up needing the rear facing camera lol!

At $86 each it would be cheaper to install 2 mini’s.

My issue is I drive 2 different vehicles regularly with a 3rd on standby. Then there is my wife with her car. What about my sons? There are 6 vehicles registered and insured in my driveway right now.
I know for sure that, even if it where simple, I would never move a camera from one vehicle to another.

I’m in the exact same boat minus children!! I am trying to decide what to do also and order today!

I went with the Pro. I already run an Anker Roav dash cam, and am generally happy with it, but after an incident the other evening with a tractor trailer running me off into the shoulder twice and trying to kill everyone else on the road, I want rear coverage as well.
