Best Dash Camera 2024

How are you all finding the higher-end Viofo rear cameras at night? Aside from mild concerns about heat tolerance, the performance of the rear cam in low light is the only thing making me consider alternatives.

If anyone has time to post a rear vid while moving, extracting some plate-capture stills, that would be most awesome.
I just saw your post and decided to jump in the truck and make you a video of some Viofo A229 Pro footage at night. (I also added a little daytime footage from this morning at the end, so you can see how night and day videos compare.) Note that both the front and rear cameras have polarizing filters attached. Thank you, I appreciate that doing these things takes time away from the multitude of other tasks we need and want to do.

I'm pretty happy about being able to pull plates in these conditions. I'd probably have to run CPL as it's predominantly very bright here in Perth, so having those in the mix is great.

Thanks again. I'll probably go this way now. Screenshot_20250302_133159_YouTube.jpgScreenshot_20250302_132926_YouTube.jpg

If it is not too much to ask, could you post pics of the mounted cams from the outside of the truck, both front and rear? Would like to see how they look from outside, what someone walking by would see. Thanks.

It's dark here now, but I can take some pics for you in the morning. Here are a few phone camera shots after I installed the dash cam. I don't think anyone would notice either the front or rear cameras. I drew arrows pointing to their locations. Picture-01.jpgPicture-03.jpgPicture-02.jpg

Here are some pictures from this morning. I put a CPL on my camera lens to eliminate any glare. Even with that, the dash cam is pretty much invisible from outside the vehicle. I also took pictures from the inside looking out, so you can see their position.
