BI Finding Amcrest Cams, but not EmpireTech

Man this is aggravating. Now an amcrest camera I've had up for

AHHH! Now this morning, I check on my cameras and they are all lagging. Extremely choppy, yesterday was perfect buttery smooth and now you can hardly even watch someone walk by they just skip around the frames!
Are you having these issues when you "...RemotePC from my home desktop" ?
Are any cameras going thru your router to get to your Blue Iris server?
On the BI server, is only Windows, BI, and BI's "db" folder on the SSD and videos go to the HDD?

No, the issue is happening on the BI tower itself, both natively and remote. ALL cameras got the same issue overnight. Cameras and PC are on the same switch. Nothing is connected to the router except the switch. Yes, video storage is on HDD and the OS and db folder are on my boot ssd.

Thats odd. But not unheard of. my first box i7-3770 optiplex running an early version of BI 5 had driver issues with the intel graphics unit and I would find it on Monday mornings in a frozen state.
SO i got an i5-8500 HP elitedesk and that problem went away.
one update i received in the early versions of substreams had ticked the box "continous Jpegs" and thing was freaking out. @wittaj helped me out after i got those turned off, with trying to turn intel Quick sync off.
Which helped. As I recall, I think i left a couple Hikvisions on intel quick sync

What is the type of PC you are running? you have to make sure any antivirus is not scanning the video drive stream folders.

No antivirus. The computer is absolutely clean other than BI

what about windows defender? you can have it skip the video drive....

So if you unplug your router will BI see the cameras?

Do that as a test. If you lose the cameras then we know the issue.

We have seen instances where there is still a connection and the router is trying to route.

I can unplug my router and nothing changes.

I can see the cameras, the feed IS working, but its ridiculously choppy and laggy

It isn't really changing frame rate, rather it is the router cannot keep up and has lost packets and it trying to ask for them again and they start colliding until the system becomes choppy or unstable. It adds up and causes the system to act up and a reboot of the router will fix it temporarily.

Based on what you have said I think EVERY device on your network is the same IP address subnet so the router is probably interfering

This has now expanded to a bigger issue. Can you elaborate on the following:

Network topology map - basically a hand drawn sketch that shows cameras, switches, router and computer with IP addresses for each.

Computer make/model and what type of drives and how much RAM?

Make/model of each camera?

Make/model of each switch?

Ok none of your gear should be doing that.

Was Windows a clean install with Media Creation Tool or did you use the Windows version/manufacturer version that came with it? Resetting it isn't the same as it loads up manufacturer bloated Windows.

It will be interesting to see what happens when the router is unpowered.

Yeah I did a completely fresh windows format when I got the dell. The amcrest cameras worked perfectly since day one until I checked them this morning. Will update you when I get on location to reset / unplug router.

Re-reading thru this, check to see if Windows updated overnight.

Many here disable Windows updates because they tend to muck things up and instead either don't update or update when they are on location with the time to troubleshoot if the update goes south.

Looks like it did...

That is probably it. Roll it back to the previous version and the problem goes away.

Just like a common theme here is don't update camera and NVR firmware, the same is with Windows on a computer running a VMS.

You can have my Config tool when you pry from my cold dead hands!
Mine too! Besides providing the easiest way to get new cameras initialized and set to the correct IP, I've found it to be a lifesaver for some camera settings. For reasons I am not able to explain, none of my browsers (brave, pale moon, IE, firefox) can change the video encoding settings on a few of my cameras. ConfigTool does the job fast and easy. Yes, the user interface and documentation sucks in a lot of ways, so you have to get around that hurdle to effectively use it.
