BIG Owl on my Trail

We have tree squirrels, rats, mice, rabbits, ground squirrels, and gophers around here. I don't see much or any tail, so it might be a gopher.

Happy New Year! First capture of 2023:

This one appears to be a rabbit, based on the hind legs. Coyote conveniently brings it to eat right in front of the camera:

Happy Year of the Amorous Rabbit!

These rabbits are "cavorting," which is a mating ritual. The higher they jump, the more excited they are!

Should be a bound-tiful spring!

Nothing to see here, but plenty to hear here:

I haven't seen Mr. Skunk in awhile. Boing boing boing boing boing . . . .

This is your Coyote. This is your Coyote On Drugs:

This the longest pursuit I've seen yet. I thought a coyote was good for one dash, like a cheetah, but apparently they've got more endurance than that.

He's got something in his mouth at 03:44:24 on the burned in timestamp (00:17 YouTube time). Based on the tail I'd say it's a squirrel.

But then later he's got what looks like a mouse or rat at 03:45:20 (01:11 YouTube time).

Don't let your coyotes smoke crack.

Would a raccoon eat a rabbit? Better not take a chance.

Coyote Family of 3, 01/31/23

Dad and Mom saunter down the trail, to be greeted by their yearling pup, who was hunting/playing in my garden.

Mr. Coyote has a meal. I'm guessing gopher or ground squirrel:

And here's a pair of big, fat raccoons. The second one has a slight limp:

I don't speak Coyote, but this definitely looks like courting behavior:

Looks like more pups coming this Spring!

Coyote Trees A Raccoon:

Multiple cuts in this video, so watch the time-stamp where available. The raccoon comes down at 1:55.

Don't cats climb trees? ;)
They sure do.
