Blue Iris kills my i7 pc

@Fieldman welcome to the forum. If your cpu supports intel HD quicksync (likely does) you can use blue iris hardware acceleration to reduce your cpu consumption even further.

I have hardware acceleration enabled at the global camera check box. I just set it at the camera level as well and it seems to have made a modest improvement. I didn't expect it to, as the global setting was set. But it seems to have made a slight improvement in the range of 3-5%

Nothing open - 19-22%
BI Open - 32-35%
BI Open & Streaming 54-58%

Try rebooting after making the changes - at the very least, the service should be stopped and restarted.
