Blue Iris version 5

With 8 IP cameras always recording, and at a yearly subscription fee of $29.99 for updates, I will be paying a penny a camera per day.

Yes, correct........ it is dirt cheap, running BI at home or even in your business premise.
(The earnings from your business will pay it off within a year anyway)

Though there is a lot of configuration needs to be done, and studying/researching by reading BI wiki,
It is well worth it as a learning process to be more knowledgeable than a average CCTV technician/installer.

Once you have gained the understanding and gathered the knowledge, you can decide yourself what is
consider a good CCTV network camera than those cheap stuff available in the market. :)

I checked the math, your correct !
If updates continue after year one without support plan then this is ideally the best s/w, IMO.

It does not. It is almost impossible to achieve this using software without a second overview camera. The half second delay of the feed and the processing time just dont allow for it to be done reliably. The new features have been published Blue Iris version 5

What cameras do you recommend to pair with a Dahua SD59225 PTZ ? I have read what you said before and have been looking this evening. I'd like to get atleast 2, maybe up to 4 of them....

The software that can do this is expensive and ive never used it myself.
I would recommend not relying on gimicks like auto tracking and simply using more fixed cameras. Autotracking cameras cannot track two subjects at once.

Blue Iris version 5

See #6 at the bottom.
How can I upgrade?
  1. You must be using Windows 8.1 64-bit or newer
  2. Open the Options window on version 4.8.6 to view your current eligibility.
  3. If your license is not currently covered by Extended or Priority support and maintenance, use the Upgrade/Renew button to purchase a new key.
  4. Adding the new key will UPGRADE your version 4 key to version 5 (indefinitely, no subscription required).
  5. Install version 5's full installer from the blueirissoftware.com website after June 1.
  6. Your settings will be migrated automatically from version 4. When you uninstall version 4 make sure to say NO to deleting your settings, as these are shared.

I think I saw a credit to bp2008 a while ago for his help on V5 along with another person. Does anybody know if V5 will incorporate bp2008's fantastic dahua sunrise/sunset?
Thank you @bp2008 btw, it has been a great tool.

No, Blue Iris V5 is not going to integrate that project. I'm pretty sure you could use BI's scheduling features to achieve the same goal however -- you would just need to enter the appropriate Dahua API commands into Blue Iris in the right place so it wouldn't be as easy to configure.
