Dahua DHI-NVR5216-16P-4KS2E: NEW firmware/interface?

Hello guys,

I'm new here so hi to you all (sorry for my bad english writing skills :rolleyes::rolleyes:)

I would like to upgrade the firmware of my NVR to the new interface of Dahua.
Its a Dahua DHI-NVR5216-16P-4KS2E (copy/paste of current web app)



The current firmware is 3.216.0000000.0 Build Date:2018-05-30 but still says its the latest version...

Because i know its dangerous to manual update a firmware, i want to be sure i use the correct one.
Ive read in this forum a couple of bricked NVR of this type, others have no problems.
Can someone please give directions which one i have to use?

Is DH_NVR5XXX-4KS2_MultiLang_V4.001.0000000.1.R.200319 the firmware i need, or do i first have to check if my NVR is v1 or v2?

The first post of the thread has a list of compatible machines and it looks to me like the 4ks2e is on the list. There have been so many reports of bricked NVRs after firmware upgrades that I try to never make a "yes it will work" statement. I just report my own result. I went into it with great fear of owning a new brick, and I'm thrilled I still have a running NVR.

Ok thx a lot.
I don't know for sure i will try it, and if i do i will follow the procedure like:
  • disconnect all camera's
  • do factory reset first
  • preform firmware upgrade in menu

If you have extra advice/steps, plz let me know

If i tryed i will let you know the result

then do another factory reset after the update.
 
I have the same nvr , I ve read that if you upgrade you loose the connection with all the Chinese cameras , is that true?

Yes and no, generally yes. My chinese market 4431-series cameras are using the firmware from the first post in the Dahua Firmware Mod Kit + Modded Dahua Firmware thread, and they work with the NVR5XXX-4KS2_Eng_V4.001.0000000.3.R.200519 firmware on my 5216-4Ks2 V1. With any other firmware in the camera I expect the camera would not work with the NVR.

I can confirm that the chinese firmware IPC does not work on the newer 5208 eu model, my old nvr it did work fine.
 
I have just installed on my DHI-NVR5208-8P-4KS2E
System VersionV4.001.0000003.0, Build Date: 2020-07-27
seems sort of beta btw
pretty cool, now also with the poe comsuption and options, faster web gui, extra hdd settings(more to read in the release notes). Only what broke where the pictures with face detection, they are gone and give a 404
