Dahua DMSS App.

Do you have to have a Dahua NVR to be able to use this to view your cameras? I have Dahua cameras but only running through BI on my PC. The BI phone app is great but just curious if this is another option to view the cameras on my phone or remote desktop connection.

No, I have one NVR on top of all my cams, plus that VTO (which is also connecting to the NVR) and view all this through DMSS. But any app (working with ONVIF) would work fine, except for the notifications, for that you need DMSS/iDMSS

After tinkering... I mirrored my VTO port so I can easily see wiresharing results to see what's going on with the DMSS app. I put my smartphone in the same subnet/vlan as the VTO. Enabled notifications on the app, subscribed to the doorbell (I can see live video and do 2 way talk to the VTO). But yet, when hit the VTO call button, no notification on the phone. I hooked up wireshark. I see the phone & VTO talking to each other using TCP default port of 37777. If I am not mistaken, the term 'subscribe' means SIP protocol. Should I be seeing SIP packets between the phone and VTO? Might have to allow the VTO to the internet and allow P2P to see the results.

Hi everyone, Id love some help.

I'm trying to add a new set of cams, using either the gdmss plus app or the newer dmss app (android phone).

It's a factory cam, I am home and I can't access the NVR now due to Covid lockdowns. Others in my team have set up the app without a problem but I get stopped at the same place on both apps.

I enter the SN manually, then choose NVR, and then it says:

1- Please connect the device to the power
2- Please insert the network cable into the device

It won't go any further. I've tried multiple times and I've tried with both WiFi and Cell connection.

Please advise?

PS: My home camera system is working perfectly, both on wifi and on cell, FWIW.

Please help?
from your smartphone... do you have anything like advanced IP scanner to scan the network? Maybe there is an issue between your smartphone > internet (vpn or cloud?) > NVR.

Hi Holbs,

I don't have such an app, but as I mentioned, my normal home cctv setup is working fine both on Wi-Fi and on cell away from home.

I use a VPN but tried to install the factory cams on my phone with both the VPN turned on and off with no difference.

might be better to post a brand new posting as it will be more visible than down page 5 of this one :)

are u using a dahua nvr ?

was the cameras ever connected ? maybe activate them manual with computer...

these cams are not reolink. you cannot use them with app when they are factory resetted. not sure if connect to nvr activate them automatically...

Hi Bolo. The newly updated DMSS with the long awaited dark theme, is what I would recommend. It has its bugs and lacks somewhat. But finally Dahua seem to be getting the Android application to a better standard, finally! Hopefully in the future it will be not such a embarrassing application that I recommend for CCTV access, for my customers!
Hi Paul,

I know this is old but still very relevant.

I have finally moved from GDMSS to DMSS.

A couple of things for now.

1- Where is the oft-mentioned Dark Theme? GDMSS has a dark mode and it's years old.
2- When playing back clips, GDMSS allows you to put in a specific start and end time (in addition to the date). DMSS seems to not have this option.
3- How can I make sure the recorded clip is downloaded with audio (where available)?

Thanks guys.

Hi

I’m pretty sure in the general - appearance mode - match system settings is what controls the dark mode.

For the video download, I was able to download a video clip with audio by default. So I’m pretty sure if you have the audio enabled in your camera/nvr settings then it will record using audio.

Your right about start and end time. The only way I was able to set that in DMSS is by using the scrubber on the timeline.

I don't know if I'm in the right thread. Dahua VTO is connected wifi. I use ONIF as a connection to Hikvision DVR with other cameras. The bell rings on the DMSS mobile phone and tablet. I'm curious, if I turn off the video streaming to the Hikvision DVR, will VTO use less wifi resources and work more stably during DMSS calls?

It would use less resources as it isn't sending it to two devices. Will you notice or not is another question.

Thank you. Does anyone know if the SD card goes into the Dahua VTO2211G-WP doorbell itself, since I don't have an internal unit, can it take pictures/record on the card inside, or does the card have to be installed in the internal unit?

i have an issue with the DMSS app that if i search previously recorded video and try to record it on my phone using the app, the DMSS app will only alow about one and a half minutes to be recorded. i tried to update the firmware on my NVR4108 "DH_NVR4XXX-4KS2_MultiLang_V4.001.0000005.2.R.220719.bin" and it made no difference. i even have another nvr4108 on another site and it does the same thing. even with the app installed on other devices, it has the same behavior. originally, the DMSS app didn't have this issue until an update was released for the app a while ago. subsequent updates never solved this problem. recording live video doesn't have this bug.

anyone else have this issue? any fix?
