I cannot get a new Dahua NVR4108 to send email, except using Google's smtp service. That smtp service replaces all images with mid-grey pixels, a subtle way of saying "use another service." I have tried using several paid-for smtp email services.
I get 'Test Error', when I press the test button in the NVR. I tested both SSL and TLS, with and without @domain.com suffix in the username. I tried putting in the target email service's actual DNS IP for DNS in the TCP settings tab, but that made no difference. My default for DNS is the gateway IP. That works with all other computers on my LAN.
The logs in the NVR do not inform on these email send attempts making debugging challenging.
Q1: Can someone share their knowledge on getting email working with this or a similar NVR?
