Dahua NVR5216-4KS2 / NVR5216-16P-4KS2

Private is Dahua, thats right..

on my NVR there was an option hidden, only accessable via OSD that had to be checked to enable IVS functionality on NVR.. Do you have a monitor/mouse plugged in? might explore that.

Can you give little more detail where that hidden option can be located on via OSD? I know we have a different model NVR but I am sure the menu is somewhat similar.

Thank you
Bill

IIRC it was a check box under System -> General

that is weird, on mine if camera supports IVS it works and shows lines.. I do the rule defining on the camera its self but I can do actions and flagging on the NVR its self.

mebe they changed something, havent tested my varifocal turret :\

I looked at attachment photo but strange it didn't appear on my browser until I quoted you then it showed up. Anyway we have the same menu display but I am not showing the "IVS Enable" on mine at the bottom.

Look like I will have to ask Andy about it, maybe he can help me out here.

Thank you
Bill

So far I really liked the NVR5215 but I haven't been able to get the IVS configuration working with the camera yet thou. I will figure it out evenly.

The menu is really snappy and quick loading.

A wireless mouse with usb dongle works out of the box on it which is great so I can run an extension usb cable with wireless dongle to the living room and use wireless mouse to view the cameras on my TV. Also will need to run a long HDMI cable as well too.

On my 5216 there is a check box under System -> Display for IVS Rule display. If checked it displays the rule if unchecked it doesn't.

I hooked up my 5231 cam to the NVR5216 but I am getting a "The account has been locked" message ... Hrmmm ...

I couldn't find a way to update password before adding camera in the NVR5216 so I added it and as expected it gave me incorrect password then I modify the camera setting with the correct password which bring up the new message "locked".

I guess it have a brute force lock on the camera.....

Searching for answer but if anyone knows .. feel free to post here how to fix it.

Thank you
Bill
Don't feel bad, got my 5216 today, installed the hard drive, hooked her up...camera account locked up. I had been playing with the cameras before I got the NVR, with them hooked up to my computer router. I'll work on it Friday. Had a long day with other stuff..just too pooped to fiddle with it this evening.

The RJ45 just connects to your LAN.
How many devices do you have on your LAN / home network? Very likely more than one.
A LAN is a shared environment that can support hundreds of devices.

Ah ha! Ok, have a 16 channel model in mind for me please? Or maybe two 8's is smarter?

It come in two different model, with or without PoE.

NVR5216-4KS2 - No PoE built in (You need to get a switch with PoE built in or other methods to power your cameras and connect all cameras plus this NVR to a switch)

NVR5216-16P-4KS2 - Comes with 16 PoE (There are 16 Ethernet port on the back and also have a fan to keep it cool)

It is easier to get a NVR with PoE ports already built in but sometime the fan that keep PoE circuit cool can be annoying and noisy unless you put in some place like a closet to block out the noise.

Nothing connected to these?
Hypothetically, if one or more IP cameras were connected (ignoring that you need to power the cameras) all cameras would be available to an NVR whose LAN interface was also connected to the router or one of the switches.

One 4-port switch has two computers connected to it in my garage that I use intermittently, but stay off 90% of the time.

The other 4-port switch has a laptop (connected to my HDTV for viewing with a Bluetooth keyboard), a DirecTV receiver, and Playstation PS4.

Hi Bill,

Did you resolve this? I have the same problem, no "IVS Enable" option on my General Settings page.

I have a new NVR5216-16P-4KS2.

Many Thanks,
Pete.

Today, my 4TB Purple drive have arrived!

I will be installing it in the NVR tonight and start looking for a good location to hide this NVR in the house somewhere. But I wanted to be able to run a long HDMI to one of the TV also a long usb cable for the wireless mouse usb dongle in the attic and hopefully it will pick up the mouse below the ceiling.

I plan to record 24/7 on it.

I am looking at this same NVR for my home however I am having a hard time deciding if I need one with POE ports built in or one without them (I understand if I get one with them built in that I would need to get a POE Switch). I am not concerned about fan noise as the location of this will be in a cooled basement.

I am a newb when it comes to this stuff... but I plan on buying a few of the 2mp starlight turrets that everyone raves about and possibly 1 ptz in the future.

It also sounds like I need to buy a hard drive separetly for the NVR right? 1 or 2 TB WD Purple would work right?
