Dahua NVR5216-4KS2 / NVR5216-16P-4KS2

I just upgraded my Dahua NVR5216-4KS2 to DH_NVR5XXX-4K_Eng_V3.215.0000000.1.R.20170901 and my starlight cameras to DH_IPC-HX5X3X-Rhea_EngSpnFrn_N_Stream3_V2.460.0000000.16.R.20170904 and IVS stopped working. (I did a factory reset on all devices prior to the upgrade.)
On the IVS setup page the Intrusion box shows properly on both the NVR and cameras, but it doesn’t show in the live view and there are no detections. (SYSTEM > DISPLAY > IVS Rule is checked.) Any ideas (other than to revert to the beta software DH_NVR5XXX-4K_Eng_V3.210.0003.0.R.20170418 that was working reasonably well)?

I believe @EMPIRETECANDY advised to do the factory reset after upgrading to new firmware. Not before. This seemed to be a problem in some of the newer cameras that supported ePoe.

weigle2 - thank you very much for the recommendation from Andy. While I did the additional factory resets, I eventually found the root cause, which was me forgetting to click the lightbulb icon on the EVENT > SMART PLAN page to enable IVS. Not a really intuitive HMI, and the users manual on the Dahua website for the NVR5216-4KS2 is from a much older interface version.
Is there a users manual for the HMI in DH_NVR5XXX-4K_Eng_V3.210.0003.0.R.20170418?
Is anybody uploading a different software version on their NVR? (hoping for continued improvement in IVS and replay)

The firmware you are running is what I found to be the most stable so far. I got it from Andy and it resolved the NVR constantly rebooting itself after an IVS trigger. That was a huge problem that Andy went to bat for us with Dahua, and got the problem fixed pretty quickly.

As far as user manual, it's a dream. I really haven't found any manuals all that useful for the NVR or cameras. Let's face it, this equipment is designed to be installed by someone that is trained and knows what they are doing, not us novices. And, both the software and hardware is constantly changing and writing documentation for it would be a large cost for the manufacturer(s).

IVS settings, really are best done in each camera. Not on the NVR side, although now it can be done. When I set up my equipment, this really wasn't an option. With the updated firmware from Andy, this allowed IVS to be done on the NVR.

By the way, welcome to this fantastic forum. It's a learn as you go type thing, so keep asking questions if you need to.

weigle2 - thanks. I have configured IVS both direct to the camera and in the NVR, and regardless of the method, they appear the same when I check in the NVR and the camera, so is it safe to assume that in the case both methods are producing the same results?
My frustration has been triggering IVS on multiple cameras. I have a camera looking at my front door and another looking out from the front door from just below the doorbell, and getting IVS on the one looking towards the door to trigger a snapshot from the doorbell camera has been hit and miss.

There are lots of factors that affect how IVS picks up objects and motion. For this, you need to play with using either Intrusion zone or tripwire, or a combination of both. You may also need to fine tune object size. All these options figure in with how well/or not well IVS will work for you. Even light and shadows can have a big effect.

I have more or less sorted out Intrusion Zones and Trip Wires and have done a little with the object size. Is there a rule of thumb for the blue box such as 1/2 the size of a human?
IVS used to consistently email attached photos, which helped me see what was working, but since upgrading to DH_NVR5XXX-4K_Eng_V3.215.0000000.1.R.20170901, most of the emails come without attachments. Any ideas on how to get them working again?

I tried upgrading the firmware by USB and seem to have bricked by DH-NVR5208
Just get a black screen now. What can I do to fix this.
thank you

Hallo. I guess, it is a problem. You need to adress this issue to a thechnically qulified personel with special devices. Because you will surely need a PC with RS232, RS232 cable and special software. Or in worst case - a programming device.

Originally I had issues with a couple of my cameras not booting due to corrupted memory cards. I updated my NVR to the latest "V3.215.0000000.1.R.20170901" and Push notifications stopped working for me after doing a factory reset. It worked prior to doing a factory reset. I'm getting IVS email notifications as usual, but no more Push Notifications. I've tried re-subscribing and re-adding the device in gdmss. It subscribes to the push notification successfully, but I don't get any notifications.

Anyone else run into this issue or know what to check for?

Thanks

Try to test push notification while connected your phone and NVR via Wi-Fi (in one subnet)

If you perform a factory reset tot he NVR it will ask you again to change the password.
If you still have access locally to the NVR you could change the password for the user via GUI. You could/should also add a user for access with the mobile application. Normally you won’t need admin privileges from your mobile, cuz you’re only watching.

Hello all. I recently purchased and setup a NVR5216-4KS2 .
I could use some help trying to get the motion record and email notification to work with off -brand (china oem) cameras. I can connect and continuously record, control ptz, and view the off-brand cameras. However, motion triggers do not work. Every time I set up the motion parameters in the 5216 web based setup page the settings don't stay. Also do not get an image when trying to define the detection area.

I would like to know if this is a camera incompatibility issue or something I'm missing. The cameras that have this problem have motion detection options in their internal web server page. I do not have it turned on - trying to let the NVR do the motion detection. Perhaps this is not possible. Any suggestions or work around? Prior to setting up the NVR I was experimenting with BI. BI handled motion and notification very well, however, I wanted to use a stand alone nvr.

I've had the same issue with some (not all) chinese market dahua cameras. I have to set up the motion and ivs settings directly on the camera. Even after that, it can be a messy job to set the dvr to record on the trigger. Fortunately, once that's set up on the nvr it sticks, and when I want to adjust the motion or ivs settings I just log onto the camera.
